This is to let people know this is a difficult thing to do and if you fail to keep on trying.  Only Jesus was perfect.  Here is a qoute to help.

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. – Michael Jordan

now we're bringing jesus into it?

it's about quitting smoking.

Amazing Grace How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me

I once was lost but now I'm found

Was blind but now I see.

He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.

JonesCarpeDiem

are we here to quit smoking or pat each other on the back when we fail.

and why does jesus have to be brought into it?

Did he help you smoke that cigarette?

We are here to quit smoking and we do not pat each other on the back when we fail.  We reach down from our horses and pick up our wounded brothers and sisters.

JonesCarpeDiem

here we go.

if i said jesus helped me quit the first time, would that make it any better?

i don't discuss my religion on this site because it is a quit smoking site.

you can think anything you want about that. it is a quit smoking site.

and "we" do pat each other on the back all the time and say its ok, you'll do it next time.

If people don't figure out what made them decide to smoke, they will fail over and over.

I refuse to fail.  I know what made me smoke.  I am determined to quit with or without your help.  Hasn't this back and forth bantering gone on long enough.  Your right people should not use politics or religion here but you know what else.  Are you only gonna support the people who don't slip.  If you are so strong why are you here.  We must support each other.  This is not a social site.

It seems to me people are figuring out what made them smoke when they make confessions here about slipping and explaining what they feel led up to their slip.  But as you stated earlier Jones you don't want to hear that or at least that's the impression I got from what you posted.  Admitting a slip is making excuses according to you.  How are they supposed to figure out anything if they can't come here and talk about it freely?

And if people feel Jesus or god or the tooth fairy is responsible for giving them strength who are we to say their faith is misplaced?

And I agree Brenda we waste entirely too much time on this nonsense.  I for one have more important things and places to do and be.

JonesCarpeDiem

i try to speak the truth. I don't want anyone to fail.

I support people who have tried and failed.

sometimes, when i really make an effort to be here for a particular person

or persons and they decide to smoke anyway, it is just as discouraging

to me as it is to them because i put a lot of my energy into their quit but,

in the end it was still their choice to smoke after weeks and weeks of me

making their quit my quit.

call the truth banter if that is your choice

JonesCarpeDiem

gemini

it isn't me who is going to be affected by hearing it.

i am not concerned about my smoking cigarettes again whatsoever.

if you have someplace to be and things to do, what are you still doing here?

Jonesy  thinks if you forgive someone, you are giving them permission to continue in their errant behavior. hwc believes it, too. There is a HUGE difference between forgiving and enabling but it is invisible to them. I got jumped on, too when I first joined.  Talk about scaring away the newbies!

JonesCarpeDiem

thanks for putting words in my mouth snakehead.

i believe you don't know what I think
