As day 2 would sound as if it was no big deal to some...everyone here can understand how hard it is! Got up for work today, and really wanted to smoke. Got in my car...wanted to smoke...now at work..wanted to smoke...so I put a peice of gum in my mouth and didnt!!! So, 3 obstacles jumped over so far and it is only 6:00 A.M. where I am. Guess the big test will be this weekend! But I am DOING this and if that means I have to change EVERYTHING I do....so it will be! 🙂

Hope everyone has a great weekend! 🙂

Day 2 is huge! Congrats!

As far as the weekend... be careful! Stay away from alcohol and tempting situations if at all possible. Check in here before giving in to any craves.

The three post rule.  if you think you might smoke, come here and post the word HELP in the title of your blog and wait 15 minutes for responses. then do it 2 more times.

One more day and the nicotine will be out of your system.  Each day that passes gets easier.  Make sure you drink plenty of water and avoid being around smokers.  Congrats on Day 2.

Hi and welcome to Ex! Quitting is as hard or as easy as you think it to be...use these coping skills instead...they really work...

Stay close to this site and remember NOPE=Not One Puff Ever...and as long as you stick to this ONE SIMPLE rule, you will win....it the meantime, drink plenty of fresh cold water to rid your body of the toxins,6 smaller, nutritious meals throughout the day to keep your blood-sugar levels steady, (don't diet!)......and it will keep your blood sugar level and the low blood sugar induced fogginess and craves away.

....take big arm STRETCHES as often as needed to relax tense muscles and most importantly, take big DEEP BREATHS TO RELAX AND RELIEVE anger... take a nap, take walks, stay buzy with something you LIKE and brush you teeth immediately after each meal...stick your head in the freezer and DEEP BREATHE....If you bite into a lemon, the smoking thought will be gone instantly...try it, it works, also suck on sugarfree hard candy or lollipops and one of my friends here says be sure to use the Halls mentholyptus cough drops......Be prepared in advance for it,not surprised by it...Smoking thoughts only have power when you have fear. Face it head on and do not try to run or hide. You have the strength and power to tell it NO...You have the CHOICE to tell it NO.

The most IMPORTANT thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the EASIER it is...

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not try. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You will be a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this! ....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF

Thank you! I just printed out the book! I am using the patch (which is not a good thing in the book) but know i have to do what is the best way for me to deal with this! I almost took the patch off this morning and went to get a pack of smokes....DIDNT DO IT!! 🙂 🙂 One day at a time, and i will succeed!!!

I quit by using the patch also...please be very careful using the patch as you can't just take it off and go smoke or you could overdose on nicotine! If you need any help, click on my picture and leave a message on my page...Nancy

Thank you Nancy! Yeah, I do not want to smoke at ALL! The patch has helped me a lot. Maybe a mental thing, but whatever keeps me from smoking i will try! 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Hi Lisa, I know you can do this. We will all help support you in this quit. This is the best decision you will ever make. Be proud of yourself for making this decision and now stay determined to do this no matter how hard it is. Nothing good was ever easy. At least this is what my mom always told me. I'm 54 and I still haven't found anything that was so easy and worth it. Keep a good attitude and you will see, each day there is a new positive thing you will find in your quit. Remember, we're all here for you!
