Wish I could start over!

So I am finally 87 days smoke free - yeah.  I have made numerous attempts to quit in the 35 years of being a smoker.  I was diagnosed with COPD a few years ago and still continued to smoke.  It wasn't until recently that it finally hit me... I need to stop smoking.  Why am I still smoking?  It took a long time, but I finally get it and I am done with cigarettes.

So all in all, everything was going well.  I am eating better, excercising, not smoking and BOOM!  I fell taking my dog out and fractured my pelvic bone 4 weeks ago.  It was more painful than giving birth!  They kept asking me in the ER to rate my pain from 0-10... it was a 15!!  Anyway, when they sent me back for a chest xray, they found a spot on my right lung.  So... I am going to the hospital tomorrow to have a biopysy done on my lung.  The doctor told me that this fall was a blessing in disguise.  I would've never known that I had something wrong if I hadn't been at the hospital.

Please say a prayer for me.  Wish I could start over and NEVER have picked up a cigarette as a curious teenager in school.  Damn my high school for having a smoking alley in the late 70's so that us "kids" could catch a smoke between classes!

Thanks all!

Linda, so sorry to hear about your fall and your pain and the spot on your lung. My wish for you is that tomorrow's biopsy finds it to be totally harmless.

Good for you for hanging on tight to your quit through your misery. You're wise to understand and prove that though we can't start over so we never smoked, we can continue N.O.P.E. so we don't ever have to start over with another Day One of quitting.

Best wishes for your good health.
