Why it's going to work this time

I've tried to quit smoking before and have not had much success.  Usually I've gone back to smoking after a stressful situation, most likely an argument with someone I care about.  Once when I was stuck in a parking lot trying to get out of a Christian conference I just couldn't stop thinking of a cigarette.  I searched my car and found a half of one under the seat.  I got out of my car and went down the line of cars asking everyone if they had a lighter.  How embarrassing!  All those nice Christian ladies, and of course almost none of them smoke.  If I had planned ahead and done all the things recommended on this site, I would have cleaned out my car and the cig would not have been there, plus my car wouldn't have reeked of it and likely set off the trigger to begin with.

I think it will be different this time because I'm preparing ahead of time.  I love this idea!  I am a little worried that I've put my quit date off too long, almost a month.  I suppose I can change it.

I plan to do everything recommended here on this site.  I have been smoking for 35 years, I need to pull out all the stops and do everything possible to make this work.  I HATE smoking, I hate stinking, ruining my health and spending money that I could put to good use.

A "tag" is just a short line to add to/explain or give key words to your blog.....if somebody wants to read this one, they might search for "planning thoughts."

Once you have done the readings, the tracking and trigger exercises and gotten your quit kit together (your list of distracting activities, written list of reasons for quitting, sugarless gum/straws cut in cig length/hard candies), it is time to quit.  You can certainly do it sooner than planned if you are ready!

Glad you are here.  You CAN do this1

i have been smoking for over 22 years. and i am on day 19 of my quit. today i walked up my driveway and did not get short of breath and did not have to stop and rest. first time ever. it is a long and steep driveway, but since i could actually walk up the darn thing today i felt so empowered about how strong and healthy my lungs will be in a year from now. I can't wait to see if I can run and bike ride without panting out of breath 2 minutes into it.  I am not second guessing this quit ever. i will never smoke again.  35 years is a long time too, but so is over 22 years. you can do it !! believe in yourself and your desire to quit because you hate smoking so much.  stay strong karen !!
