When It Seems Hardest,,,,,,,,,

.................Remember this!!!

There is a demon living in you! He is called the nicodemon! He has the ability to put thoughts in your head! You have the choice of listening to him, or not! He is dying! You are killing him! The thoughts that he's putting into your head are ones of desperation! He wants you to save him! Are you willing to give up your life for his? You have wrested the control from him! You have shattered the chains of bondage that this addiction has kept you in! You have tasted FREEDOM! Will you become a slave to this nicodemon again? You have a chance to breathe free! Take that chance! Turn you head, and let the little bastard die! You have regained control of your life! Keep it my friends! Keep it!!!         Tommy

Nice pep talk! My husband and I have been listing things that we're sick of that won't be an issue if we quit.  THERE ARE SO MANY.

Hi Tommy, Good Morning, it's always a pleasure to see you. If I may add something. It's either your life or it's life, prepare yourself for the fight of your life and if you find you didn't need all the tools you prepared yourself with, you are not only lucky but that much wiser for you came exceptionally prepared and didn't need it, so pass it to those who are in need. Take control of your life back and live it the way it was meant to be lived, SMOKE-FREE. Thank you, Tommy for allowing me to vent on your blog.

Right on! too many people get confident in their quits and let their guards down and thats when the demon appears! He stoled a years quit from me many years ago and after being educated here, I know to watch out and not make the same mistake twice. Great blog Tommy!

Am on Day 11 and it has started out to be one of those bad days.  So, I got onto this site and something caught my eye as soon as I got on here.....you're post.  I really did need to read that and remind myself why it was I wanted to quit in the first place.  Thank you for enlightenment. - Toni -

Gosh, Im just on hour six. If I hadn't found this site, there is no doubt I would have lit one up 5 minutes ago. I'm going to continue to check out this site because its holding me at bay for right now.

The demon analogy is really good, Tommy. Wait a sec. Thats not an analogy i believe its a real demon. Thanks everyone  for allowing me to read your comments.  Thank you especially, Tommy.

This is day two for me, I set my quit date about a month ago, a week before my quit date arrived my sister took ill and died. I wanted to use this as an excuse to keep smoking, but I simply reminded myself that this is an addiction; it will never be a  good time to quit, I am having a really hard time staying focused on the quit today.... I am an alcoholic/addict  and have been in recovery from that addiction for 12 years now, it does not compare to what I am experiencing with the cigarette quit... HELP!!!!

I am on day  two without a cigarette. I am using something called Novus that looks like a cigarette, but you cannot light it. It comes in different flavors.  I am not crazy about it. But it helps with the hand to mouth thing.  Is anybody else using anything to help them along?

Thanks Tommy, I need all the support I can get. Eventhough it had been 49 days, I would have the urge to smoke to smoke would hit. But I would fight back with water and it work.

I am having the hardest time. This is my fourth attempt at quitting and I just want to quit already but I feel like I am just not strong enough to beat my triggers or to get through the withdrawals. Today is my quit day and by now I would have already smoked 6 or 7 cigerettes but I have only had one. I keep telling myself that I will NOT have anymore but I am really wanting to go out right now and have a cigerette. Can anyone provide advice that will help me please! I really want to quit.

Got discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.  Pneumonia and diagnosised with COPD.  Very depressing.  I am only 47 years old.  Have smoked since 17 years old.  I almosted died.  I can not ever smoke again.  Prefer to live.

You guys, are so encouraging, my quit date is 3/4/13. Thanks, Tommy, I'm ready to get rid of that demon!!!

Joan_01-02-2015

Today is day 5 of quitting for me.  That nicodemon is speaking loudly!!  But, this is the first time I have "quit" that I have not cheated.  I keep thinking of all the benefits, especially smelling clean - and so much more - and that is keeping me going.  I like this idea - banishing the nicodemon!!!!!!;)

I am on day 18. Every day is a new day physically now. I am ready for the daily battle of withdrawal symptoms to be over.  The cravings are always mental for me as a reward or consequence of behaviors. I hope spring arrives soon with dry weather so i can be outside, be healthy, and have lots of energy.

Set quit date 2/14 and did well.  Then came day 2!!!  1 pufff andput out....It is most difficult when there are 5 smokers around and a lot of drama.  Serving as a caregiver for my sister so I'm away from my home and peaceful surroundings and lack of control over what goes on.  My mantra today and tomorrow is the only thing I can control is "me".  Thanks....

Thank You Tom, I have been praying for a new mind set . One that helps me to think like a non-smoker, but the demon keeps saying to me " Who are you kidding, you are a smoker"

It's almost 3 weeks for me. Sunday will be 21 days of no smokes...I really want to think like a non-smoker, will the thought of cigs ever leave my mind???

The Nicodemon is often mentioned in Alan Kerrs book the easy way to quit smoking, and it refers to the demon often.

And that all it is. The dying creature asking for help from us.

Thank you.
