What's different?

Hey Jen! Nice to see you! I wish I could say you sound great...Please remember  that you CHOOSE to light up you don't HAVE to.

What will make your quit day different from today? xo

I jsut opened this and read it. It was in my messages and before I go further I would like to thank the person who sent it to me, though I didn't include their name.

What will be different on my quit day, as opposed to today?

1 - I will have read the easy way to quit

2 - I will have read more blogs and messages on here

3 - I will have more excitement built up about quitting

4 - My quit kit will be complete (mostly)

5 - I will be smoking less than I smoke right now. I'm already down to 20 from 27 without any hard work

6 - I have started saving blogs that I want to reread during my first day

7 - I have begun activities which I don't allow myself to smoke during

8 - Today I started shutting down my computer when I smoke putting distance between computer use and smoking (It's my major activity)

9 - My thinking about smoking is already changing, I no longer give myself an excuse or allow myself to think I need a smoke

10 - I have begun doing activities that make it nearly impossible to smoke, thereby creating a bit of a life without smoking

Is that enough? Is it too much? I dunno, but it's making me feel better about the quit.

The fear of quitting is getting a bit less and the excitement is growing. I know there will be hard times where I just have to go through it and do the best I can. Those are the times I hope to be near my computer so I can come on here. If not, I will find it on my phone and get on here that way. Hopefully, my phone battery won't go out on me. I will try to keep it charged for the first month. After that, I don't think I will need it so badly.

Not that I won't need this site, I will and I know it. I just mean that I don't think I will need it constantly with me.

Just remember that you have to take it one day at a time. Planning ahead is n ice and hopefully works; however, there is that one hidden obstacle that you won't see that will seem to pop up out of nowhere. That's one time you will be tempted back to the dark side of the quit. We don't want that to happen. Hang tough and stick by here as best you can. We will be here for you if you need us.

Yes, Jen, One Day at A Time, Easy Does It, Live and Let Live, Think, Think, Think, a hundred different sayings from my recovery group. Sometimes I forget them but going to meetings helps me remember them. I even went to NA, Narcotics Anonymous for my first ninety days not smoking. They helped. I even got keytags for 30, 60 and 90 days. Will continue to go with my AA meetings 3-4 times a week. Keeps me out of trouble. Now my husband has set Jan. 1st for his quit day. Hope he's not setting himself up for failure. I'm getting a laptop for Christmas so maybe we'll be on different websites. Best wishes on your QUIT journey!!

Hi nice to jmeet you

Not to burst your bubble, but even people with months  or years under their belt,  can get a crave  out of the blue.   Does it get eaiser yes. Starting out is a little hard, but not painful. take  it 1 mintue and 1 hour at time.  Hope to  cheer  you on soon

Renee is right about craves "out of the blue". The thing is once you have been quit a few months or years the craves are easier to "kick to the curb".  I have been quit 21 months as of yesterday and once in awhile I will get a smoking memory and that is all it is a memory not a strong desire to smoke.  Protect your quit always it is so worth the struggle.

Jen - you are going to be soooo proud of yourself!  Especially when your quit clock says you've been quit 50 days, 100 days, 200 days and 500 days!!!

You CAN do this Jen......

Thank you, each and every one of you!

I am still doing a bit of prep work, but I know there are things that I won't expect and can't plan for. Those are the times I have to have will power. Those are the times when I must have support from here.

I am truly greateful for this site and those who are encouraging as well as informative.
