What is the Freedom Train???

It is a blog that we post daily. There are 7 of us total that post it through the course of the week.   We celebrate members milestones and also announce our own number of days if we choose. Now in the past, it wasn't unusual for the Freedom train to get over 100 comments. We get much less participation these days. We come to this site to get support to quit and to some stay to help others. We build friendships in the process. Now i know some people don't feel confident about giving advice to others but, you can support others by just typing on the Freedom Train daily a congratulations to others. It really does mean alot to that person/persons celebrating to know others care and are there for them. Hop onboard today and spread some cheer. Have a great day!!

Terrific!

I just read an article that said if you want to lift your mood - do something for somebody else! What an appropriate way to help myself by wishing others Congratulations!

The Freedom Train works for me and I'm sure it can work for others as well! Thanks for your diligence and perseverence Train Conductors!

Thank you Shawn and thank you to all five of you for your daily posting of the train. I appreciate it and have not been a faithful rider and encourager. I will do better in the future. Onward we go!!!

I try to make it there but on the days that I can't get on line until night time...I sometimes skip trying to catch the train.

I love seeing how many days people are celebrating and I love looking at the sign in page to see how many days I am celebrating.

The train stops for everyone!

Thanks Shawn.    Often I have wished that more people would come and ride the train.   It is a way to connect, a way to feel safe and confident for another day.    I have to admit sometimes I feel frustrated when very few people come to ride.     I think especially for the Newbies........

Appreciate your commercial.       I'm heading over there right now.

Great blog Shawn.  I try to ride as much as I can.  I've been so busy lately late I missed the train a few times.  But in a way that's a good thing that I feel confident in my quit to not "need" the train.  But it's a beautiful thing we have going here and I'm going to try to ride as much as possible.  Happy belated congrats to you, and thanks so much for all you do!  CP

@ cpsono- in regards to not "need" .....it really helps regardless. When you help someone else, you help yourself.

@ smorgy- I wish the same and trying to change that around. I wonder how many comments we would get if every person who logs in, posts?

I sometimes get on board late but I very rarely ever miss getting on, whoo Hoo because I feel it's very important to start the day or in some cases especially for me lately to end the day congratulating each and everyone of you on your awesome ongoing precious quits, especially if you are celebrating a special milestone, hip, hip, hooray my friends and fellow Exers, ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Today is Day 9...............Hopping aboard the Freedom Train.  My experiences so far:

Freedome from:  Voice is back and can talk

Night time leg cramps are very improved

Socializing and enjoying the Freedom of people

Enjoy the clean smelling car

Not believing the "brainwashing" about withdrawals anymore.  It isn't fun but it certainly is not killing me

I feel the less days smoked are so important as the person had to work harder to earn them. Congratulations to all who have quit and kept their quit, this is not an easy task but definitely can be done. It is a mindset, and a test of will power, when we're ready, we All can do this.

Thomas, what a wonderful thing to say. Do something for someone else, and of course we will feel better, I love that

it always works for me. Giving is better than receiving, yay !!

About the Author
I am 51 yrs old and live in the Greater Cleveland area. I started smoking at a young age. I think it was more peer pressure at that time and just a few cigarettes a day until i became "LEGAL" to smoke. I then started smoking a pack or more a day, using stress as my excuse to smoke more. In reality, I realized after i quit smoking that there is no excuses for smoking. I am approaching 4 yrs next month, but I still have to work to protect my quit. I am here on Ex faithfully helping others and in return helps me. We call it here on Ex "Collateral Kindness" here is a link to my blog, 1 yr later that explained my trials in the the beginning of my quit. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/ShawnP-blog/2013/03/14/one-year-later
