What is NML and why I care...

You made it through H*!! Week!

You made it through Heck Week!

You made it through Hallelujah Week!

So you're finished quitting, right? No more craving, no more, BecomeanEx, no more Recovery - you're recovered

- I wish!

Now the mind game of recovery changes. In some ways it gets easier (yes!) but in other ways it gets much harder! In fact, people who think of quitting as an event are more likely to relapse between 30-130 days approximately which is why JonesCarpeDiem‌ , OldBones-Larry‌, and others want you to know

Be Prepared!

These are must read articles!

Then search by putting in no man's land or NML to find lots more info on what to do about it!

Don't let that first Month's hard work go down the drain because you weren't aware!

Nobody wants to repeat Day 1.

Keep stacking those Days WON No Matter What!

LLAP!

Since people usually disappear when they lapse, it's difficult to know how many quits are lost in the 2-4 month time period, but I can attest to the fact that my WORST day was around 108.  I was having what felt like nonstop (surely they weren't) craves and felt as though my journey to freedom was NEVER going to end.  The joys and awe over the first couple of months had waned, and I just wanted this to be OVER already.

Luckily, I reached out on EX for help, and JonesCarpeDiem‌ suggested I give him a call.  It saved my quit!  It IS a difficult time for many...and being aware that you are almost THERE is important.

Don't give in; don't give up - for you really ARE almost THERE!  Blog for help, give it a few minutes while you talk yourself back into the right frame of mind, and wait for someone here to get back to you. Someone WILL.

Thanks for bringing this back to the fore, Thomas!

Totally agree.  I'm so thankful for the Ex that I even knew about NML.   It's easy to become complacent as you accumulate more smoke free days.  Knowing about what to expect on this journey has made all the difference this time.  Always reach out when you need help.  It can save your quit!   It saved mine several times.   Thanks for the reminder.

Great blog post, thank you! I believe I was lucky to go through NML in the winter, so it would be harder to go out. My laziness and hatred of driving in the snow saved me!

Dale, what would so many of us have  done without you constantly reminding us about NML and how to make it through to the other side.   A big thank you.

I'm so thankful for this site, it provided so much information, especially this journey through no mans land.  It's a journey you don't want to purchase another ticket to travel at another time.  Man, I was the little engine that could..and trudged through.  It's a foggy mind, your brain have no wires to function, cause it's rewiring to accommodate a loss in your life.  The anger wire was on high alert, but I knew this..and kept it all in check.  My family is alive and well..couldn't have done this without communicating this process with them, and of course the love and support.
