What I learned today

I am celebrating my six months of freedom, thanks to hard work and alot of support and encourgament from the Elders on this site. You were my lifeline from day one and for that I am grateful.  I know that this is my "First and Forever Quit" For several weeks, I have been seeing a lot of new quits, and a lot of whinning and excuses for continuing to smoke. No one ever said that this was an easy addiction to control, but friends, it can be done and it is so worth it. My dear friend who was 52 years old was told 3 weeks ago that she has lung cancer.  She died Saturday.  SMOKING KILLS.  I realized today after reading several blogs, that I will never be an Elder  that is going to coddle and baby a serial quitter. You either chose to smoke or not. Keep the cigarette away from your face.  OMG I AM DALE !!!!

Lmao  I did relapse. but I need a good swift kick in the butt at times, and some just need a little nudge. I get the best of both from here.  I just tried to read the tone of the person. Heck When you relaspe. Your mad at your self enough and shamed enough.

Renee day 2.

I'm not one to coddle too much either.  I am at day 175 of my quit.  I do not think I woulld have ever made it this far if I had been coddled through this.  I have never been happier.  Each day I am SO glad I chose to quit.  I have my FREEDOM back!  Life is so very good for me without cigarettes!  You are right, cigarettes are KILLERS!  Some people do not see that until it's too late.

Congrats to all that are still on their quit, and to those who have begun theirs.

Wendy - I am so sorry about your friend.....how awful.

I agree with your no coddling approach! This is simple - don't smoke! I remember when I first read that - I thought the person was nuts! But, I pondered it.....I kept reading....and finally I got it! You've got it!

Congrats on 6 months again! And - just what we need - two Dales!!
