It;s been 4 weeks and 2 days into this quit. Carrying further these few hisrtorical momentos, you will find me to have graduated high school, joined the navy, and returning from Vietnam. Why did I skip all this? Because it would have been too lengrthy, and sad, because I was still smoking and using mind-altering substances, and my first 3 years into manhood were sort of perverted, cloudy, and hectic. Sad to say, I still didn't see that much wrong with smoking, my original gateway drug.

Even though the touch-tone phone had been invented, it still was not a common item, or very well know oin the south. Little to my knowledge our friends at Bell Labratories had already invented the Unix computor, predecessor to the internet. Why we already had Communications Satelittes, little did we know "smart bombs" were just a few years away!

Things were starting to speed up. Siagon Fell, Watergate, and believe it or not They were just finishing up the Interstate hwy system in the south. The job market was pretty good, even though the political scene was becoming even more volitile. Detroit was still producing cars that would run 150mph on suspensions that would've been unsafe at 100mph. There were a lot of bad carwrecks!

Air Conditioning was becoming commonplace and was getting much better. Pleasure boating was beginning to take off. A Cabin Cruiser or a Houseboat was another symbol of wealth an prosperity. The prices of housing was beginning to climb, and Gas was also very cheap, below $1.00 a gallon.

Also, someone somewhere from parts unknown had decided that the re-cyceling habits that were commonplace in the 50's and 60's were no good anymore. Aluminum cans and plastic bottles were replacing the glass ones, and even the glass bottles became throw-aways. Well, who would have ever thought of such!

Cigarettes were still selling for below 50 cents a pack. Some of my buddies quit smoking and started chewing tobacco. Long hair and sideburns were tolerted in some circles, but not actually admired.

I guess it was fun

JOHN

Thanks to both of you, and what is so rewarding for me, is somthing like tattoes, something I didn't think of, and which YOU made me think of. My Uncle always preached against tatoos, he had a few, and said he wished he had never done it.
I do not have any!

You know what?

Everyday that I get up and not think about a cigarette is my reward. I dont not want to fool you...at times I want one. But to get out of bed, or get in the car and not want to smoke is wonderful
I think we are going to make it

what can I say?
You are one of a kind.
The History is not as distorted as you may think.
In my case I had forgotten some of it
I needed to put it in order.
