WEEK 1 DOWN!!!

Today is a wonderful, wonderful day everyone! Week 1 is done for no smoking! As of 11:02 AM this morning, I have been smoke free for 7 days. Today as been fairly simple for me only because I was excited to wake up and say, week 1 is done. BOOM!

With that said, for some reason, yesterday was very hard in terms of sleep. I have been starting to lose some sleep I think because my body is obviously not used to supplying it with Nicotine on a daily basis. In the opposite manner, it's also extremely hard for me to stay super alert and awake throughout the day. I used to use a cig break as a wake up throughout the day but now I'm struggling a little with that. I tend to get tired mid-afternoon and I don't want to drink coffee that late as I feel as if I would be just replacing an addiction with an addiciton.

I was thinking green tea would eventually be a good replacement. It might take a while to kick in as actually waking me up but I'm willing to wait if it means I stay smoke free.

Happy Week 1 everyone! and everyone who has previously made it past week 1, NICE JOB! This is a feeling you cannot beat!

Yay!!!  Enjoy the Quit!!  I'm still a little fatigued at day 19.  I'm using the patch and after several here suggested taking the patch off before bed, my sleep has improved.  Are you using NRT?

Green tea sounds like a nice treat.  I don't really like hot beverages, except the occasional hot chocolate, and for me, green tea just didnt do it for me.  I Wish I did like it!  So I just count on water.  Any time I can have it with ice, the better!

I'm so glad you came back and so happy that you are working hard.  In the early part of the quit, go easy on yourself so you can use the energy to keep quitting!!

Maybe a bit of chocolate or some caffeiinated soda?  Your body will adjust and you won't need it forever.  Can you take a quick walk when those tireds hit?  That is another excellent way to get energized.  Or - maybe some jumping jacks?  O rmarching in place?

Congratulations on making it through the first week!  Just keep adding a day at a time - it's how it's done.

Well done, my Quit Twin. We've passed the One Week milestone.

You've probably heard this from a lot of EXers: Water is often the best cure for fatigue and/or mid-afternoon "brain fog."

Here's a good article about it:

http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/water_health/health1/1-avoid-the-midday-slump-with-water.htm

And a nice quote from the article: Drinking water will perk you up just as a wilted flower perks up in water.

YIPPEE!!  You made it to 1 week and you are right there is nothing like that feeling of hitting the 1 week mark until you hit the double digits .

When the tireds hit me I would take a short brisk walk sometimes only to the bathroom and back but it seemed the faster I walked the more it would pump my energy up.

Keep on keeping on! You got this! I am right in front of you calling you and leaving you a clear trail to follow. Don't give up.

So proud of you!

Congrats on one week! I like the tea idea. You are right about the sleep thing...it takes a while for your body to adjust. But, it will adjust - I read, early in my quit, that some people need more sleep after quitting and some need less. You will find what works!

Congrats again!
