Thanks to all for your encouragement and for your comments on squirrels who raid bird feeders. I am so glad that I didn't succumb to a cig yesterday. For some reason, the travail from yesterday did not translate to this day. I had a few "nic fits," but they were easily overcome. I'm going to try to remember that one day is not like the next, and that one day's trial is another day's triumph. In short, I'm feeling pretty good this evening on Day# 11. Double digits is fun.
And now for some important news: I discovered a thing called a squirrel baffle that is a cylinder that you install either above or below your feeder. Mine are installed below my feeders since they are on poles. These things wobble around so if a squirrel jumps on them, they ( the squirrel) slides off. They also act as a blind spot--when the little bugger is looking up, all he or she sees, is a black cylinder and not a banquet. I'm hoping this will do the trick. I mention this because some of you were amused or had comments about the damned squirrels. Warning to all: the feeders that close when a squirrel gets on them, are useless. They figure out where to cling and not cling. Anyway, this squirrel thing is indicative of my obsession with staying away from cigs. I spent so much time today trying to hook up the baffles, which needed a thicker pole than I have, that I concentrated on that instead of smoking a cigarette. That being said, I'm afraid that little things are still upsetting me more than normal. As an example, when I dropped a screw into the snow, I sent up a volley of profanity that even the boys in Goodfellas, or Deadwood, couldn't match, and that's saying something. I'm just fragile in the anger department and I don't know when that's going to end. I mean, I am pretty high strung as it is naturally--probably the reason I smoked so much--but this is way above the wires. Does anybody know when and if, this settles down at some point. I don't remember it being this bad when I successfully quit for a year. Maybe it was. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me. Thank you for you continuous support.
