UPDATE ON MY HEALTH ISSUES

Today I went to the doctor's for my post-Covid follow-up. I did not see my regular doctor but his stand-in was great so I am ok with that.

She sent out a referral for me to a nutritionist to help me get a handle on gaining back some of the weight I've lost.

Since I am still having chills (along with the weight loss), she has ordered bloodwork for me to rule out any possible thyroid issues and to check for anemia. She said the chills may just be a lingering effect of Covid but she wants to rule out the other health possibilities before being able to say the chills are a Covid-leftover.

Since my recent Covid test was negative and another 10+ days have passed without other Covid-like symptoms, she said she has no reason to believe I am still carrying the virus.

She also gave me approval to (finally) get my flu shot and agreed with what I had read about waiting three months post-Covid to get my last booster. So that is on hold for now.

I also made the decision today to not go to my near-by son's house for Thanksgiving dinner. There are relatives-- including grandchildren-- who are not vaccinated. Plus Darren and Jeannette are social beings and their house at holiday times hits overflow from friends who just stop by (and who may or may not be vaccinated.)

This was a tough decision for me but I feel I just cannot take the chance of getting Covid a third time.

(Jeannette will supply me with a holiday food meal delivery)😊

I just want to be well, stay well and hopefully get to the point where I no longer worry about getting Covid again. Hopefully once I get my last booster I will have the confidence to be more social!!

In a nutshell:

COVID SUCKS

Prior to my first quitting on 8/25/2019, I was a heavy smoker for over 60 years. That time, I quit due to health concerns regarding clogged arteries to my brain. Tar deposits from cigarettes were making the situation worse. I had become a prime candidate for a stroke and required surgery to clean out my left carotid artery. I have relapsed 4X since that quit, the last one being on 05.15.2022. ( At one point in all of this madness, I had been quit for 1.5 years). Then on 9/7/2021 I began my recent eight month quit before my current relapse. I am in the process of planning a return to the non-smoking life. After more than 2 weeks of smoking, wheezing and coughing and being short of breath, I have set my new quit date of June 1, 2022 as the beginning of my forever quit. I am done with this madness!! God is good.
