As one who sits at over 5 years quit, I can tell you a couple of important things.

1) The longer you stay quit, the more your stress level will go down, and the better you will be able to handle stressful situations.

2) All the stress, struggle, and animosity in the beginning is as bad as you make it. It doesn't have to be that bad. Keep calm, breathe, drink plenty of fluids, and don't let your mind race out of control with panic. Always remember it is not as bad as it may seem.

3) After 4 to 6 months quit, things get a lot better. The day will come when it won't bother you to not smoke anymore. All you have to do is stay quit, and you too can be free!

I quit smoking on March 26th, 2009. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I quit because I began having health issues in my early 40's. I had a TIA and a stroke a few years ago. I work as a home delivery salesperson.
