Tomorrow is the day

Tomorrow is the day that I have picked to give up cigarettes completely. It will be stressful to be sure as smoking is such an ingrained habit. I smoke when I am driving, when I am working, when I am watching TV, when I am on the computer. In short I smoke all the time, everywhere. My wife smokes, my coworker smokes (last week he smoked mostly my cigarettes) so he might find himself involuntarily quiting along with me. I have decided that I might replace cigarettes with toothpicks or something else that I can put in my mouth that is not food. I sincerely hope that by the end of tomorrow that I can report back that I have been sucessful for the first day. I will let you know how it went physically and emotionally as well.

I found that cashews and sunflower seeds helped me in the beginning. Good luck. I know you can do it!!

It has been 6 weeks without a cig and I feel great. Here's a list of my oral satisfactions...sunflower seeds, sunflower kernels, pretzel sticks, slim jims(beef jerkey) celery (cut into strips and dipped in ranch dressing) ,wheat nuts and when all else fails----my thumb(just kidding about the thumb, you'd look kinda funny working on your computer sucking your thumb) Good luck and hang in there.
