Three Simple Rules

1)  On your Quit Date, you MUST get rid of ALL your cigarettes, lighters, matches and ashtrays.  Check your purse, your car, your pockets, your kitchen drawer, etc.  If you cannot put your hands on a cigarette during a strong craving, obviously you can't smoke one.  The craving is likely to pass before you do anything you'll regret.

2)  Always be prepared.  Never find yourself in a situation where you haven't planned how you will distract yourself if a craving hits you.  And make sure you have whatever supplies you will need to accomplish that distraction.

3)  Cookies are part of the journey.  This is VERY important.  If you don't believe me, just ask joyeauxencore (Teddy)!   Nanaimo bars are a highly acceptable substitute for cookies.  Just ask freedom38 (Kari)!

Amen Sister Sky! (Although cake can work also - and I did just have a brownie!) Perfect rules!

Good stuff! Except, if I start eating too many cookies I will gain too much weight and that is a trigger for me to smoke! But otherwise, I love it:)

We'll Ladies,

i have a pantry shelf of Girl Scout cookies, any kind of Valentine goodies you can think of and a big strawberry cake in the fridge, I think I am set for the weekend...LOL

LOL, Marion!  Yes, I think you just might make it until Monday morning!  Pass me a slice of that strawberry cake, please!

And to Kathy (Strudel):  I didn't forget.  "Where there is cake, there is hope".  But wasn't there a question about whether the original quote was "Where there is hope, there is cake"?  Either way, it works for me!  Perhaps that should be Rule #4.

I agree! Get rid of smoking stuff on day one! Cookies are always a good idea, even on day 150!  Now I'm hungry for cookies.....

Larry (oldbones) would probably want to crumble the cookies so people can find their way through NML. 🙂

Frozen Hershey Kisses are a must-have tool, as well (for those on a diet - tee-hee!!!)

Bring on the cookies! Warm them up in the microwave for 10 seconds to soften. Just lke right out of the oven. Isn't it Girl Scout Cookie season yet!  And of course a glass of milk to wash them down. lol

i want to post a picture of Nanaimo Bars.  I was introduced them when I had a layover in Vancouver and met freedom38 (kari) for burgers and drinks.  Kari brought me a whole box of them (well, she admitted eating one of them!) and they are AMAZING.

However, I only have my iPad while I'm being treated up here at the University of Michigan Hospital.  And while there are a lot of instructions on how to post pictures in blogs using Internet Explorer and Chrome, I have yet to find anyone who can tell me how to post pictures using Safari on an iPad.

Can anyone help with that?  Because Nanaimo Bars are worth seeing!

Now I'm craving apricot rugala things I found so good it's my new craving way better than a nasty cigerrett

JonesCarpeDiem

can't you google nanaimo bars, then choose images, then after you open the one you like in another tab, select view image and then paste the code as normal in the blog?

I played mechanic today. You can't smoke easily if your arms and hands are covered with blood and grease so I wasn't much interested anyhoo.

Love it! Lindt truffle balls will have to substitute for cookies for now 🙂

YES, YES!  Thank you, Dale, for posting that picture of Nanaimo Bars!  They are a Canadian thing and they are SOOOOO good.

Dale, I've tried to do exactly what you said to post pictures using Safari...but I can't get it to work.  Of course, that doesn't mean it doesn't work...I might just mean I'm as dumb as a rocik.  😞

Wait.  Dale!  Why is your car BLEEDING on you?  Or did your car bite you and YOU are bleeding???  Don't get any blood on that crazy hairy hat of yours, ok?

it was my buddy steves suv. we were trying to replace the starter but it was behind the headers exhaust manifold and the bolts were rusted on. so we had to reach behind everything and try to feel the bolt heads that had to be removed because we couldnt see them.

My old truck would have taken less than an hour.

It took us 4 1/2 hours just to take the old one out and we were both too whipped to put the new one in.

LOL  #3 will always bring a smile to my face....   ♥   To me, because I was there! It signifies making friends (on here) who have the same goals because no one can understand what you are going through, except for fellow quitters..... And I forgive you, Nancy, for not mentioning me with Teddy and Kari!!  😠

#2 I found most helpful...  if we are not prepared, all can be lost in seconds!!!!!

Nancy, So sorry I ran off so quickly after I responded to your post. Sweetzels spiced cookies are so freakin good if you like ginger and spice, you'll just love these. Next time you are in Philly, I'll try real hard to locate them. Usually they only have them around Halloween!

Prior to THAT, I was Director of International Administration for Domino's Pizza, Inc. I was married to my H.S. sweetheart (dad of my 5 kids) for 17 years. I've been with Jeff for 23 years, but we just finally got married in 2016! Jeff & I live in Cape Meares, OR right on the beach. I'm from Ann Arbor, MI, where many of my kids/relatives still live. My flying base is Washington, DC, where I have a condo that I stay in when I'm between flying trips. My dream is to retire and stay home with Jeff and my two cats, Kenneth & Barbara...not happening soon, though. So I go home whenever I can get a week or more off. I LOVE to meet up with other EXers in the cities where I lay over. I usually blog about what cities I'm laying over in, so let me know if I'm staying near you! I'll buy dinner!! Xxxooo, Sky
