Hello everybody, my name is Eric and I was an addict.  I smoked for about fifteen years, occasionally taking a few breaks, (one for almost a year) but I would always come right back to the needy little bastards.  Well, I feel as though this time is the last time I will have to force myself to stop sucking down life-shortening poison sticks.  This time, its been 44 days now, has been easier, without too many side-effects, FOOD is SO good.  But anyway, I just want to encourage any and all to write to me or post on here, and I will do my best to try to respond in a timely manner, because this is my final semester in college and I graduate at the end of April, woohoo, and I am just a tad bit busy.  Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

Good for you, Eric.  I just know this will be your final quit.  I will caution you not to drink alcohol, especially if others in your group are smokers. If you must drink, limit yourself to just one.

I am so happy that you have quit at such a young age - hopefully before any permanent damage has been done.

Stay committed!

Thank you Nancy, that is very good advice.

I have actually been alcohol free for almost 2 years now, and yes, drinking was why I started back up again after I quit for almost a year, so I know exactly how that all works.

Hi Eric while you are studying you may want to add a little something to your lessons

Welcome to Ex

If you take the time to do the work you will have success.

Read Study Blog Research Comment, Hang Tough Stay Close

You have come to the right place if you are making the decision to commit to quit smoking.  At EX our resolve is to never smoke again.  NOPE “Not one puff ever.”  I suggest that you follow the steps on the web site pages along with reading, writing, studying, researching and blogging if you like.

This is all about you and what you are willing to do to be a nonsmoker.  If you haven’t read it or have not been informed here is a link to Allen Carr’s book, “Easy Way to Quit Smoking”.  It is an easy read suggested by the “elders” (those with 1+ yrs. quit).

Also check out www.whyquit.com.  There is a lot of additional beneficial information to read and study.  Look for Freedom From Nicotine My Journey Home and Nicotine Addiction 101.

Both were extremely helpful for me.  Stay close to the site and learn, ask questions. Read the blogs and most of all enjoy your commitment to quit smoking.

If you should need something to do here is a link that will help

I SO love it when I hear from young people that they're quitting.  The smartest decision any smoker can make is to quit, and if you do it when you're young, you greatly diminish your chances of ending up like some of us here (including me) who have COPD and real trouble breathing.  I quit after smoking for over 50 years, and I KNOW you can do this.  Congratulations on your 44 days and for graduating from college!!
