They Are Only Moments

Ask someone how long a craving lasts. In fact, ask several people. You will get many different answers. Some will say it only lasts a moment, and some will say it lasts for an hour, or longer. Why do you suppose this is? I have one question. If you tell me a crave lasts for several hours, how do you know? BECAUSE YOU ARE DWELLING ON IT. You are making it last longer by thinking about it. It's not as if you actually recognize the exact minute or second that a craving supposedly disappears. What happens is you change your focus and stop thinking about it. DO SOMETHING. Clean your house, listen to music, play a video game, log on to ex and type a blog, respond to other people's blogs, get in your car and drive around for a while; ANYTHING to distract yourself from the craving. You know without a doubt what a crave feels like, so when one hits, don't wait around for it to get worse, do something to get your mind off of it. Once you get busy, chances are you will forget about it.

I quit smoking on March 26th, 2009. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I quit because I began having health issues in my early 40's. I had a TIA and a stroke a few years ago. I work as a home delivery salesperson.
