The day before my quit

extraordinaire

Hi all! Today is the day before my quit. I'm feeling alot of mixed emotions. I'm excited, sad, nervous, but one important feeling is motivated. This isn't my first attempt at quitting. This time I realize I have to be in it for the long haul. For the rest of my life. Last time I quit I lasted 91 days. I thought I had it under control but one night my husband and I decided to drink. He bought a pack of cigarettes and all bets were off. I thought I could control it. I cannot! The EXcommunity has been my number one support. The education and advice is priceless.

I wanted to record my experience last time I quit and I don't have an answer to why I didn't. This time I'm doing it, not only for myself but for everyone out there that might relate.

So here I am. I've done all the pre planning through My Ex Plan, identifying triggers( I check all the boxes on that one), I've re written my schedule and routines. I have my support system in place. I have switched my quitting aid to gum this time. The patches were great but my body always rejected it. It sweat it off within an hour or two. I used the gum one weekend when I was in vacation with my family( they would not tolerate a smoker real well). It was awesome. Fast acting and very convienant.

I can quit and you can too! Preparation and determination are on my side!

Have a great day everyone! See you tomorrow!

Welcome back. Day one tomorrow, on to day won. You've looked back, taken stock of what happened, you know that you can, keep up the good work.

It's why I do a weekly blog cautioning folks not to drink when they are quitting smoking!  You learned the hard way - and I'm sorry about that.

I also want to caution you about how you use the gum.  Please don't just use a piece every time you feel like you need a cigarette.  Doing that can lead to addiction to the darned gum!  Be sure to use ALL your tools first and the gum only as a very last resort.

Can't WAIT to celebrate Day Won with you tomorrow evening!

Sounds like you've got your plan all set.  Good!  You DO have to be in this for the long haul.  You had a good quit going with 91 days.  And then you fell into the trap that so many have:  we think we can control our smoking.  We think we can be casual smokers.  That we can just have one now and again.  We can't.  We simply can't.  When you learn that lesson enough times, you're on your way to a life-long quit.  If you haven't, read THE EX ONE PUFF FILES‌  Also you might spend some time reading the material in Relapse Prevention

"Preparation and determination are on my side!" - don't forget willingness and acceptance.  Chin up!

Yes drinking is so dangerous to a person quit. I'm glad you have a weekly blog! I'll be defiently checking it out. I'm using the gym as prescribed for the first 6 weeks I'll be chewing it every 2 hours.
