That Stomach Thing

We've had a few posts about stomach distress, most notably from Sandy-9-17-17‌, and I've been dealing with the issue for the past year. Nicotine, and now its absence, affects our bodies in ways we just can't always predict. In my case, and some others here, it's been BLOATING. It's painful and uncomfortable and can drive you out of your mind. Here's what I've found helps me.

1. Probiotics. Doesn't matter what kind, I don't think. It's been helping things move along, so to speak.

2. Cut down on the sugar. Yeah, it absolutely helps with the withdrawal, so this advice is for later. Once the cravings are under control, knock it off with the Tootsie Pops.

3. Cut out all soda. I was drinking a lot of seltzer water, because it's delicious and refreshing. Then I saw online that it can contribute to the problem. All those bubbles! Now I'm just drinking ice water and it's making an enormous difference.

4. Eat more in the middle of the day. I find that if I switched lunch and dinner times I feel better. So I have dinner midday and eat lighter later.

I hope some of these ideas help.

Good luck!

I became nicotine-free on Christmas Day 2017. That's what I use as my quit date. I had smoked cigarettes for 45 years, then vaped Juuls for a few months before quitting cold turkey when I used up my supply of pods. I am a retired widow, living in Upstate NY.
