Thank goodness it was only a dream....butt:

I dreamed that I smoked a cigarette last night and I was SOOO disapointed in myself! UGGGGH! I am sure that many of you might have had similar dreams in the past (curious to know).

I am relieved that I realized it was only a dream (thank goodness), but I will also tell you that I am scared of this coming true. I stay strong each and every day. So far I have had at least one strong urge each day, since I quit (1 month, 2 days), but this was the first time it entered my brain while sleeping.

One thing I cherish is sleep. I don't require a whole lot, but definitely like to shut down, and allow my body to rest---so this dream disturbed me so much that I woke up at 3:45 a.m. and have not been back to sleep. Once I am up, I'm up! I do take medication to shut my brain down at night, but somehow that didn't take last night. Why on earth is my sub consciousness still thinking about these damn cigarettes! Yes, I know, it will probably pass as I allow my body time to heal and from the addicition, I just needed to vent a little. So thanks for being here "board" where I could write it all down, and work through it.

It was only a dream!

I had my first smokemare at 163 days and I was so surprised because during waking hours I did not think about smoking much at all.  Some people never have the dreams so I'm hoping this is a one time thing with you.  I haven't had any more.

Just keep with your quit moment by moment.  The urges will go away.  I know it may seem like a long time but you are really still new in your quit.  Me too.

Hi Robin

smoking dreams can be real disturbing, mine felt like i actually smoked and it freaked me out too. I only had maybe one or two. and others have reported them as well.

I quit May5, 2009 and haven't had even a puff.

You can do it too.

reward yourself for your milestones, 30 days is a good one.

you have saved a little money so get yourself something tangible that you can enjoy, maybe some art supplies or something for you place.

Stay busy.

check out my page, Maggies , HWC page too.

There is alot oyou can do, I had  a counselor for a year and worked a mayo clinic program and another one. I researched alot on smoking cessation on the internet

whyquit.com is a good place to learn about addiction

I did tapping, my doctor recommended it, there are videos at tapping.com

you can tap for everything, addiction , emotions, stress, depression , pain. etc.

roger callahan is the pioneer.

I sent you some mail.

nice to meet you

havea sparkling day.

Good Morning Robin, I've had a few smoking dreams myself. They are only dreams. I  was freaked when I had my first one, it was so very confusing to me. It was so real to me I could smell it on me when I awoke. It was only a dream, or should I say a nightmare. I have had one here and there since then and I didn't want to dwell on them for too long for I feel I am giving the addiction a new head to rear. What we are doing is the best thing in the world for us, (quitting) my heart thanks me each and everyday for quitting, not to mention my lungs! Nothing better than that! You are on the right road.

Hello Robin, yes, I have had those smoking dreams, but I have to remind myself that it is only a dream.  I think it is our subconcious mind reminding us of who we are:  addicts.  Don't let that get to you, but they have been a common occurrence since I quit 234 days ago.  So hang in there, all is well.  N.O.P.E.

Dreams do not all come true! If you don't believe me ask Reese Witherspoon and Catherine Zeta-Jones if they even know who I am! Keep your Focus!! Never lose your Determination!!

I have had lots of smoking dreams.  In the beginning I was so sick I said "I can't wait to go to sleep so I can have a cigarette!" LOL

I haven't had one for about 2 weeks, but for awhile I was having them almost every nite. And, yes, they became so real and in every single one of them I felt tremendously guilty and disappointed in myself.   To me it is my addiction that is so strong and it enters into my subconscious while I am sleeping.....that pathetic addictive creature still trying to hang on and control my brain.

It is definitely just part of the quit process, nothing to be alarmed over, and they will pass.  Hey!! 30 Days and counting!!  WTG!!  Keep going!!

Thanks for the heads-up on "the dreams" I may be facing in the future. Knowing what I am up against helps a lot ~ that way I'm not blind-sided!

Keep up the good work and look at it this way ~ at least you didn't wake up thinking that your dream was so good that you want to make it come true!

Keep on keepin' on!
