Share your quitting journey
I am a Disabled Veteran with PTSD and other psychological disorders smoking was a way that I used to self medicate to deal with my disability. This is my 6th quit. My longest quit lasted 5 years when a stressful situation pushed me over the edge and I "thought" that I could just have a cigarette and then go back to not smoking well that one lead to a pack and the rest is history.
I learned in the VA's smoking cessation program that I could never take one puff. Just one puff of a cigarette and I will be a smoker all over again. I have also learned that psychological issues do play a part in a quit and that the dependance that these issues with your smoking have to be dealt with sometimes by medication sometimes by hard work.
Whatever method that is used to quit smoking so long as you quit is a successful quit. Different things work for different people, I quit using Bupropion (Wellbutrin) and Nicotine Gum. Others quit Cold Turkey or Chantix. Others Quit using a different Nicotine replacement such as Lozenges or the Patch. THERE IS NO ONE TRUE WAY TO QUIT and everyone should be proud of the way that they have managed to quit as the end is all that matters not the means.
