Temptation when stressed

I have been staying quit for a few years now managing life one day at a time until recently. My Mother had an event and the doctors discovered she has Dementia. I knew nothing about Dementia but have since educated myself and joined a care givers group. My mom’s behaviors and memory loss cause her confusion to increase and her temperament to be negative. Nothing I do will please her which leads me to stress, frustration, heartache and the ever burning desire to return to tobacco. I talk myself out of stopping to buy a pack of smokes and once home I am proud I didn’t cave in to the dependence of leaning on smoking to take a time out so I can relax. Each occurrence is a victory and I say it out loud. It seems the struggle will be with me during the tough days but reminding myself of the stink I wear after a smoke seems to be the quick reminder of why I quit to begin with. We just have to find our own determination and find what keeps us strong in the quit. I hope today is a good day for everyone!
