I'm really sorry about everyone's problems.

I'm sure glad I don't have any.

Well, except for this failed surgery I had two weeks ago. And the other 20 that are too personal to list

I have good and bad news (Good news for those who have quit smoking, bad news for those who haven't)

the smoking cure does not work

why is the surgery considered a fail ? I an sorry for your health issues, I know about those, not yours of corse but I seem to be falling apart the older i get, if you are like me, you worry about the insurance going up and goodness knows, it is high enough, but we wear loose socks and do not smoke over any of it, hope you get better soon, what is going to be next ?

@ Dale - Hope things gets better for ya. Gettin old ain't for wussies.

@ everyone else - I think Dale's point is not to gather sympathy but that no matter our trials & tribulations...smoking will do nothing to improve our lot.

I'm sorry your surgery didn't work. I also will say prayers for your healing.

And yes, folks, there is no valid reason to smoke, only excuses, and those aren't valid excuses either.

Dale:  First, I pray they can do something to rectify the failed surgery.  I believe in never stop searching for the right doctor, surgeon, etc.  Secondly, even though I am one of those F--- Ups, I totally agree that smoking doesn't do a damn positive thing for anyone.

Dale, I am sorry your surgery did not work.  You are so right, we all have problems, some are worse than others, but the one common denomiator is that Smoking Does Not Fix Anything.  Thank you so much for your straight forward approach to things.  I am still smoke free thanks to you.

Day 190 and still not smoking!

I hope your doctor can fix what has gone wrong or send you to someone that can help you. I did say a prayer for you and will continue to keep you in my prayers.  I think everyone will understand that you need rest right now. I hope you are better soon.

Oh goodness, Dale. That is bad news.

Sometimes our bodies just want to be a certain way and we have to tell them more than once, "no, that's not right".

I hope things work out for you.

About the Author
Hello, My name is Dale. I was quit 18 months before joining this site and had participated on another site during that time. I learned a lot there and brought it with me. I joined this site the first week of August 2008. I didn't pressure myself to quit. HOW I QUIT I didn't count, I didn't deny myself to get started. When I considered quitting (at a friends request to influence his brother to quit), I simply told myself to wait a little longer. No denial, nothing painful. After 4 weeks I was down to 5 cigarettes from a pack a day. The strength came from proving to myself, I didn't need to smoke because I normally would have smoked. Simple yes? I bought the patch. I forgot to put one on on the 4th day. I needed it the next day but the following week I forgot two days in a row I put one in my wallet with a promise to myself that I would slap it on and wait an hour rather than smoke. It rode in my wallet my first year. There's nothing keeping any of you from doing this. It doesn't cost a dime. This is about unlearning something you've done for a long time. The nicotine isn't the hard part. Disconnecting from the psychological pull, the memories and connected emotions is. :-) Time is the healer.
