Struggling...

It hasn't been 24 hours yet since I stopped vaping. In my opinion it's way harder to quit than cigarettes were. Very anxious, jittery, pounding headache...i could go on but I am committed, why? You all are the reason why. I have recieved such positive feedback from y'all and some great resources and just reading others struggles is helping!

Hang in there JM....very proud of you and how brave you are to admit that it is difficult.

If you switched to vaping from smoking and did not quit nicotine in between, then you did not experience withdrawal. The hand to mouth is different, but the addiction is the same. Remember this is addiction-- and that is your enemy!!!

Keep moving forward one hour at a time--it is disturbing but doable and you are motivated.

The high cost of the stress of these days will be replaced with something really wonderful. I'm so glad that you find Ex to be a source of reassurance as you get through day one, day two and onward. Yes you can.

Change your struggle to a challenge that you can meet.  A struggle will pull on you.  A challenge will push you towards your goals. Quitting smoking is difficult.  Changing what we say to ourselves matters. Change the narrative.  Your struggle will become a challenge you can meet. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/newbie-quitters/blog/2019/01/27/one-of-the-greatest-tools-...

JM - Now that we are later in the day, has anything changed?  You doing better?  Same?

I woke up very shaky, anxious, confused, sick to my stomach, excruciating headache and just completely off. I never had these symptoms when I quit cigarettes. Makes me wonder what I've been vaping all these years. It's kinda scary

Yeah -  I can empathize with that.  I used the E to get off cigs once and ended up with cryptic tonsils that now have to be removed.  While possibly safer than cigs, it is probably a far cry from safe.  Keep it up and let's hope for a better day tomorrow!

How did you get off e cigs? Just curious.. the problem i had is i always had it in my hand and did it EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. I'm telling you I am physically ill and scared of how much nicotine I actually have in my system among other things. I feel like i look like a drug addict looking for my next fix.. it's awful

JM - I hate to be simple, but my Grandma quit smoking in the 80s.  I asked her prior to her death many years later how she did it.  She looked at me like I was absolutely nuts and replied, "You just don't do it".

How did I get off them?  I just didn't do it.  Was it uncomfortable?  Yes!  Was it challenging?  Yes!  Was I in the end going to be OK?  HECK YES!!

I am an addict too.  My grandmother tells me daily, "You just don't do it".

If you just hang tough there will come a day that you don’t think about smoking or vaping.   You will read it here all the time, but I am asking you to believe it does diminish.   There will come a day when you are no longer concerned whether you desire nicotine via vape or cigarette after a meal or cup of coffee.   Most of us call it our Ah-ha moment.    You will know when it happens.  The moment it clicks, and you realize “I don’t have to do that anymore”. 30-60 days is a guesstimate There are ups and downs on this nonsmoking journey.  Some equate it to a roller coaster ride. I still say hang tough, hold on, scream if you have to, the rewards outweigh the discomfort.  Make your 3-4 weeks of withdrawals easier if you stay close to the site for Reading, Studying, Blogging, Questioning, Making Friends, Researching, Learning, Relearning how to handle it all.   It takes work and commitment. It does not happen overnight /blogs/JACKIE1-25-15-blog/2016/01/06/hang-tough-stay-close-hang-loose?sr=search&searchId=34788a96-aa...

Hi, JMBateman -- I'm always late to the discussions, but how are you doing today?  I hope you're feeling better and meeting the challenge head on.  This is the absolute best community to help you on this journey.  There are lots of resources regarding addiction in general and definitely resources on quitting vaping.  You can so do this!
