Strudel's Reminder

I got a message today congratulating on my 200 days.  Wow 200 big ones!!  Coincidently, this weekend was my most challeging time to date.  I am happy to report, I am still smoke free.

My husband and I, after 22 yrs together, almost 17 married, have separated. And boy did I want to smoke.  My cousin asked me to come over yesterday for support, I told her no, because she smokes and I can't be around them at all.  I needed to keep reminding myself, NOT ONE PUFF EVER.  and SMOKING WILL NOT MAKE ANYTHING BETTER.  I would still love love love one right now, but then I know I would regret it.  Just like any other addition, there is no such thing as one.

So Strudel's reminder comes at a time when I really needed the support, and that's what this site is all about.  Thank you.

Sorry about the seperation, Strudel. I know too well how sad those times are! You are very brave to not let one loss encourage you to have another one and smoke. 200 days! I am so happy for you. That's a record you never want to break!

Sending you a giant hug of support, and knowing how hard it is not to smoke during the hardest times.  You are amazing for knowing that being around a smoker would be risky for you right now.  I commend you for putting yourself first and for valuing your body and your victory enough to say, you know what?  Nothing's going to make me sacrifice what I've worked for.

You've worked hard to start doing good things ofr yourself, and my guess is, this is just one more step towards a new life for you.  One where you are valued, and worth the work!

Don't you forget in all of this that you have power, strength, and resolve.  You can do anything, and you WILL make it through this!

Congrats to you, my dear!  Go look in the mirror and  smile.  You have a lot to be proud of.

Sorry about your separation.  I have never been with anybody for that long of a period, so I will not say that I can understand--I would not want to be a hypocrite.  Nonetheless, I would like to say that I have been through a lot of hardship and loss in my lifetime.  At my most desparate times, I did not know if I could continue my life--I did not know if I could go on living.  However, in time I ALWAYS found that the hardest things to bear in life truly bring about the most positive changes in our lives.

Most people would have been too happy to take such an occassion as this, and use it as an excuse to smoke.  After all, it is a pretty good excuse to smoke--but NOT YOU!!!  You stayed strong, you kept your word to yourself, you chose to empower yourself instead of accepting defeat.  With all of that said, I only have one thing left to say to you...."WAY TO GO!!!

N.O.P.E

Peace,

Sabine
