I quit on Kentucky Derby Day 2018 (May 5th). I just said enough, and I quit cold turkey. My goal is to never smoke another cigarette again, or use tobacco (nicotine) again period. I feel better, I look better, I smell better and I have more money in my pocket at the end of each day. It was a win win for me.
Bottom line is this; if you really want to quit than simply throw them away and don't ever light another one. In 7 days most, if not all of the urges for the nicotine will be gone. Then it becomes psychological.
Piece of cake...lol...Don't fool yourself with this one a day is okay stuff, or just this once. Excuses. Like I said; when you are ready, QUIT....not before.
