Still Quit

January 2nd marked my 3rd year without cigarettes. I have to say for the first year this support group was my life line. Since I quit I've finished dental hygiene school and I am now starting my first hygiene job. Thank you to everyone who supported me, listened to me whine and gave me sound advice. And while I not longer need to use this support group nearly as much as I did in the beginning, I have to say it literally saved my life. When I started my quit I couldn't even laugh without coughing. It was scary. If you are new to this please please don't give up. Ask for help. Bitch and moan when you need to. Listen to others stories and write your own. It helps. And if you fall off the wagon get back up on it. If I can do it so can you.

SO good to see you, happy to hear you are still quit, and happier still to know you have realized your goals and are working in your chosen field.

And can you IMAGINE getting close to a patient after a break,  smelling like a dirty ashtray smoker?  blech!

ALL good now!  Congratulations!

So glad you checked into share your success.  Three years smoke free is a fabulous achievement.    I'm right behind you with my 3 year date in March.  I'm so happy to hear everything materialized with the dental hygienist training.  Congrats on 3 years and wishing you the best on your new position.

Oh my god I know. I would be angry if I was a patient and had to smell that the entire time.

I can't believe it's been three years, I was so skeptical about this quit when it started because I had tried soooo many many times. But here I am. It was nice hearing from all you guys.  I am happy to see that the same people who helped me are still on here. Especially you! I remember reading anything and everything you posted.  I recommend this group to anyone who will listen to me and I also put the information about it in a smoking cessation program I had to develop for school about a year ago.
