Stick with the patches...or go cold turkey?!

I'm on day 3 of quitting with the patches....and I'm considering taking off the patch and having a go at it cold turkey and i'm scared as hell!  I'm doing my homework and research continually shows cold turkey to be the most successful.  I was very surprised to see how much more effective it is then the patch.  I suppose it makes sense - I've only ever quit with the patch and have not succeeded longer then 6 weeks....and everyone i know have always used the patch, and always gone back.  I know of 4 success stories and everyone of them was cold turkey.  No, I do not want to go through full fledge withdrawel - I know it is soooo much harder to quit this way....but maybe allowing myself to go through that horrible experience will actually help me in the long run become the successful ex-smoker that i want to be.  I don't know what to do....I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get this monkey off my back....and I've realizied, I'm even willing to go  through sudden full fledge withdrawel cold turkey if that is what it takes.  I want it so bad.  I need advice?  Should I give it go and take off the patch??  Is it really that much more successful?  Does it get much easier after the physical withdrawel is over?
