Starting to crumble a bit...

I'm on day 16 and I am starting to crumble a little.  I have been very blessed with few cravings.  But today i'm having cravings that are off the charts.  I still can't seem to get every single nit out of my daughter's hair as much as I comb it.  I keep having to leave early from work for one doctor appointment or another.  Today's is completely unnecessary (cardiologist).... I'm 99.9999% positive my symptoms were absolutely nothing.  Seriously.  My daughter needs an x-ray to screen for suspicion of scoliosis.... SERIOUSLY?????  fml.  Furniture is being delivered on Wednesday and I think it's too big.  I TOLD my husband that we didn't have as much room as he thought, but nooooooo.... don't listen to me.  My daughter isn't going to MMA tonight because she is afraid to get more lice (I completely understand that). I gotta write a check for $3000+ on Wednesday when she gets braces on.  I'm just venting. I am sorry. Now...... let's try to spin it around...

If nothing else, my daughter's hair is super clean and so is the house. I read something different about the treatment and one thing says that they don't like dirty hair.... sooooo, either clean house or clean head...  at least something is clean.  The cardiologist appointment really probably isn't necessary. They had me wear a heart patch monitor for two weeks and I'm pretty sure nothing happened during that time, nor since. But better safe than sorry, right?  I'm not really sure how to spin the furniture that is too big into a positive.  I guess the fact that I got it on sale and am able to afford it.....  Same with the braces.  She's going to have a lot of dental work done, but we can afford it (not by much).

I'm coming here to vent, instead of using the downtime to bum a smoke from my co-worker.  It's really taking every ounce of energy today.

Crumble away...just don't smoke. It won't help.

I'm sure you feel better now. I like how you followed up with the positive spin. Keep up the good fight.

I will take your excess furniture if it's free, delivery included.

Vent away...so much better than smoking...remember you are early in this quit and Nico wants you back...so he is making all this seem more stressful then it is...say...NOPE...smoking isn’t an option tell Nico...because all of those problems will be there with or without a smoke...it’s solving them without the smokes that we can do for ourselves...Gotcha in my Thoughts...proud of you...you came here to vent...~ Colleen 161 DOF

You vented; you understood that smoking would not have made ANY of your problems better, and you didn't smoke.

ALL good!  Crumble away - just don't smoke!

You are doing great, with everything going on and you have it all covered, good for you.

Be patient with the cravings, they come and go, breathe deep through them, it going to get easier.

The more time you put from your last smoke, the easier it get, Superwoman!

Good for you for posting, whew!  You will get through it, drink some ice cold water, deep breathe, and take it as it comes.

OK, I agree.   You're having a bad day, but through it all, you're still a non-smoker.   Glad you came here to let it all out.  That always worked for me.  Big congrats on 16 days.  You're a winner!

Congratulations on getting through what sounds a lot like Hell DAY.  I read that about lice too, they do not like really clean hair and I did a vinegar soaked towel on my daughter for the last treatment, I remember how I felt, I cried and cried and cried, I was in SO MUCH PAIN from shoulder surgery and here I was cleaning everything in site and my daughter would cry when I washed her hair.  Poor thing, it was like torture.  Hang in there, this too shall pass.  Coming here to vent was absolutely the best thing you could do.

Your blog sounded like a country sound entitled "Sounds Like Life To Me".........great song.....google it if you can. GREAT JOB on getting through all of that and remaining smoke free!!!

For the record......lice actually PREFER clean hair. Many times, when children get lice...there is whispering that it is because they are dirty.......untrue. Lice prefer clean hair as it is easier to attach to. Lice, of course, will lay nits anywhere......but, they prefer clean to dirty hair. They also dislike processed hair (hair that has been dyed or highlighted)and they dislike hair with a lot of "product" on it....gels, sprays etc.

When you run preschools you become a lice expert (among other things).

I am sure the furniture will look great, the lice problem will eventually clear up. You are correct that the cardiology thing can't hurt and will give you peace of mind and the orthodontist bills will all be worth it in the end. I am also sure you will love your life so much more free from smoking.

Stay Strong.

Great job on getting through another rough day! As everyone above has stated, smoking won't fix things. It also won't make you feel better. Especially now that you have committed to the quit. Apparent by your coming to this site rather than smoking. It will just make you feel worse and guilty.

When having a particularly rough day, I will get ready for bed, crawl into bed, then crawl out on the other side of the bed and carry on with the day. Not sure why it works, maybe just the humor of the action. Maybe similar to what you did by looking for the good things, just an attempt at a reset.

Hang in there! My cravings, just like a four year old, screamed louder when I wouldn't respond to the temper tantrum. Then eventually, like a four year old, went to sleep.
