Something bad happened last night

We found our cat angel dead this morning in the garden. She was a very nice cat that never hurt other animals not even a bird like other cats do. Angel was born wild and would never let us touch her but we caught her one time in a trap and got her spaded and got some shots for her that was the last time she would go near that trap. None of the outdoor cats will stay on the porch anymore and I don’t know why and angel was hiding under my car but I needed to go out to the store and so we got her out from under my car and she ran in the garden and that was the last time we saw her until this morning and she was dead and her chest was eaten out and part of her throat area. I feel so bad about it all I made angel get out from under my car and when I had gotten back from the store I parked my car far in the back so she would not want to get under my car again. I had a very hard time getting Angel out from under my car and I knew she never went in the back of the yard area so I parked there. Mom said she did not think Angel felt well and I told mom all the cats were not on the porch anymore but I knew angel was walking slow I thought she was having trouble with her hips but I did not think she was ill. I don’t know what kind of animal would eat a cat like that. We have possums outside and once we saw a fox long ago. Mom said she thought some raccoons got into the pond and messed the whole set up apart but she did not see them do it she just speculated it was raccoons.  My son dug a hole in the garden and we buried Angel this morning. We are torn up inside about this and mom’s blood pressure is very high now I made her take here blood pressure medicine. I have to look for my camera now I have packed away somewhere it can be put outside and I can see on my Tv inside what is going on outside and I hope it works with the light on at night on the porch because it is a day time camera not night time. I got enough going on now with my life and now this happens I am so upset about this. I hope this camera works on the porch so I can see what is going on at night here. We have two more cats outside that are wild and won’t come in the house but they can run fast and jump high to get away I hope they will be ok. I won’t smoke over any of this it won’t change a thing. I’m going to go look for that camera now I think it is in the closet but I’m not sure I rearranged everything not long ago. My closet is packed with stuff I have to pull this and that out to find the camera.

So sorry,

You're right, smoking won't help.  Life keeps right on happening, whether we are smoking or not.

I am so sorry for your loss, something similar happened to a co-worker's cat who was living outside.  It is terrible you had to find your baby in the state she was.  But if you could think she had the life of her choice, she did not want to be an in-house cat, maybe that thought can relieve some of the pain.

Hugs and prayers your way!

Christine, I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. I have five feral cats I am feeding and attempting to trap/neuter/spay,  and every morning I wonder if they'll all still be around. Take comfort in the fact that, but for your caretaking, Angel's life may have been cut short long ago, and she was lucky to have you.

That's horrible. I feel for you. I never thought raccoons would attack a cat. We had a pack of dogs that would attack cats and kill them that way.

I'm sorry for your loss.

That's awful.  But don't blame yourself because you moved you car.  Cats are pretty resourceful and will find new hiding places.  The fact that all the cats have disappeared from the porch is definitely an indication that some predator has been about.  Do you have coyotes there?  They're known to grab cats.  I feel for you all.  Angel is now a real angel romping and playing in God's safe garden.

So deeply sorry about Angel!!  I miss my Iggy (my furbaby) every day.  I know how much it can hurt.  You and your family are in my prayers.

I am so sorry Christine. It's hard with an outside cat to respect their desire to be outside, but you were right to. Predators are a chance that comes with the territory. My most beloved cat ever, who I also found as an outside cat and who I also allowed to be out when she wanted, was killed by coyotes. I know how hard it is not blame yourself, and I hope you get past that soon.

Christine,

I am so sorry.  We have two indoor cats and one feral cat who lives in the yard and comes into the basement when the weather is bad.  I would hate to have anything happen to him or the others either.  We kept our three cats in the house that burned before the fire, we were "protecting" them from cars or predators...they couldn't get out during the fire so we lost them because we kept them inside.  I have cried and cried over those cats, I still do.  I will miss them forever, they were my babies, just like you...I didn't smoke over it, smoking would not bring them back.  I cannot imagine what would have done that to your cat, my heart goes out to you, to anyone who has lost a beloved pet, a family member.  Hugs to you.

Dearest Christine,

SO sorry for your loss. I think how incredibly fortunate for Angel and the other cats to have your tender loving care while respecting their desire to remain wild. My heart goes out to you!!! xo

Sorry to hear of your loss. I've seen a fox chase a cat up a tree behind my house. Don't blame yourself.

Oh, my, Christine, I'm SO sorry to hear about this. I am one of those crazy cat ladies who is currently catless. But I understand the pain and hope you don't blame yourself and please feel better soon.

@ Sharon (Shashort) I hope I find out what killed angel also I need to know what is doing this. Thank you for the Big hug.

@ Pops I’m glad I have not wanted to smoke today over Angel being killed not one time have I wanted to smoke. I did want to have a drink but I had no alcohol and when I went to the store today to get the extension cord for the camera on the porch I did avoid the alcohol area. I knew if I started drinking I would get triggered because when I drink I always smoked and drinking is a trigger for me.

@ Daniela yes that thought does help relieve some of this pain thank you. Angel would not come in I did attempt many times to get her to come in the house but she would not.

@Jennifer Thank you. Life goes on but it sure is hard to lose Angel.

@Joyce Your cats are lucky to have you caring for them. Yes that is comforting thinking how Angel did get cared for she would have starved if we did not feed her because she never would kill anything. Angel even had a special thing with a hummingbird and the hummingbird would come down in front of her and buzz around very close to her and follow her up the ramp and stay with her for a while sometimes. I wish I had Angel and that hummingbird on camera now.

@ Dale We do have a lot of pit bulls on our street and one did get on our porch recently and tried to kill angel but the owner got to the dog in time but had a very hard time controlling his own dog.

@ Giulia We do have coyotes in our area. We had coyotes at our old house that we moved from that is not far from where we live now. At the old house when I would hear coyotes outside one of the cats that went out and then came back in the house just vanished and we never found the body.

@ Sharon (just Sharon) thank you for the graphic I appreciate it very beautiful words on it.

@ Mag (mag10Q) Thank you I know Angel is resting now and not in pain.

@Dancingthrulife Thank you for your prayers. Yes it hurts a lot we all have to go through this at one time losing a pet. Sorry to hear about your pet Iggy our pets are like family to us.

@c2q Thank you. I am sorry to hear a coyote killed your cat that is horrible. I know wild animals have to eat something but not our pets. There are lots of mice, rats, bugs, snakes around for coyote’s to eat I wish they would leave our pets alone.

@Ellen (Elvan) Thank you. I hope nothing happens to your new cats they are like family. I hope I find out what did this to Angel. Thank you for the hug I needed it.

@Joyeuxencore Thank you. Yes we did not want to force Angel to come in and have her miserable she just had to be outside. We did put cat houses on the porch for the cats and heating pads in the cat houses in the winter time for them.

@freeneasy Thank you. I did not know foxes would chase a cat like that. I hope a fox is not what killed Angel.

@Jonilou Thank you. I got the surveillance camera up now and I hope I catch what did this to our cat Angel.

I am so sorry too, how awlful for you, your Mom and your son. I pray that the camera will show what the culprit is so this doesn't happen to the other Ferrol cats. (((((Huge cyber hugs)))))
