Smoking is NOT normal

This morning I read part of the tragic account of sexual abuse by a doctor treating Olympic gymnasts.  I was, of course, appalled and horrified that these very young girls were away from their parents and were abused by someone they were supposed to trust.   There was something she wrote that really hit me because I think that, in a way, it relates to those of us struggling with the psychological addiction and that would probably be all of us.  She wrote:

“…in the last year I’ve spent a lot of time realizing it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to cry if I’m upset and show emotion.”

I know that it took me a while to realize those same things after stuffing all of my emotions into cigarettes.  Feeling is normal….smoking is NOT.
