It took a while for me but I'm at day 116 and I don't really even think about cigarettes unless I'm here on the site! I think I had an urge earlier this week but they're really just like quick little thoughts now! You'll get there! Keep workin'your quit, it gets easier!

It generally takes about 3 weeks after you stop using nicotine before your brain chemistry returns fully to normal. After that, it's all psychological and emotional. Most people will say that the worst part of triggers and cravings is over in the first two weeks. But everyone's journey is different. How long have you been quit?

Everyone uses terms and words differently. So the craving---or desire for a cigarette will lessen as time goes on. After about 6 months (and it is a different amount of time for everyone)....you really can go days without thinking about a cigarette.

But triggers.....they are a little different----at least in my opinion. There are all different triggers and they are also different in each of us. You will find that even as seasons change....you have what I call "seasonal triggers"-----I was quit for over 7 months when I found myself on a river bank on a gorgeous summer day and all of a sudden thoguht.....WOW----I really want a cigarette! But it passed quickly. But it is why the milestone of a year is so huge. You have then gone through one full year of trigger breaking...seasons, holidays, etc.

Every day you will beat some little trigger and never "hear" from it again. Stronger ones---like driving and smoking or a cigarette after eating.....they take more time. But the quit is so worth it, So just STAY STRONG!!!!

It's been almost 2 weeks since quitting.  Don't ever want to smoke again, have to get used to life without them, which I know is so much better.  The mental fight can be so intense

Dear Martha,

The day is coming when you do not ever think about smoking but the reason for that is...You will embrace and love the moments and days of your life for all the joy they offer in themselves and your body, mind and soul is free from the 'painful longing' of addiction...It takes what it takes..TIME..but then...you have your life back. xo

love the way you are so so positive all the time, and how long has it been since you quit?  Each day does get easier and I enjoy all the extra time I have, just wish I knew how to get my husband to realize he doesn't need cigarettes.
