Yup I've done it. But without the help of patches or gum. I switched completely over to an electronic cigarette, it has a smart chip, battery, atomizer and nicotine cartridge, inhale too much and the smart chip cuts you off. It's a pretty neat system. And I only puff on it when I need a fix. I have noticed that my sense of smell has increased, food still tastes the same and I'm thirsty all the time. I crave sweets. I drank 3 glasses of chocolate milk for some reason last night just out of the blue. I'm sure I'm gonna get hell from some of the senior members for using the e-cig, but it's helping me, I don't want to smoke and the smell of smoke sorta makes me sick to my stomach. Anyway that's my update.

I'm not going to give you hell. I do, however, have two questions:

"I'm sure I'm gonna get hell from some of the senior members for using the e-cig, but it's helping me, "

Helping you do what?

"I don't want to smoke and the smell of smoke sorta makes me sick to my stomach. Anyway that's my update."

So, if you don't want to smoke, why don't you just quit?

I'm not a senior member, only been here a few weeks. Your post says you are inhaling nicotine. How is that any different than smoking?

to Jen: It's different because smoke that you inhale from a cigarette comes with tons of chemicals. This is just nicotine and water

to HWCC: I want to smoke that's the problem, whether you like it or not, this is just a smoking alternative to let's say nicotine gum, patch, lozenge. I can't stand the smell of smoke, but addiction to nicotine is different.

to Julie: I'm not still smoking. I just beat the system.

Also, for a final point.

Smoking verb. to draw into the mouth and puff out the smoke of: to smoke tobacco.

Technically, since I'm not inhaling burning tobacco and puffing out the smoke, I'm not smoking.

Yes I will stop using the electronic cigarette in a few days when I switch completely to the vapor without nicotine in it, a none nicotine cartridge.

If you want to quit you need to quit!! I know it is hard, here I sit just before 12 days, and it has not been easy, but the only way to do it is to give up the nicotine and the thing keeping your fingers busy. i sure hope you find another alternative, good luck when you do decide to really quit, and we will all be here to help you!!!!

I am sure no one is trying to offend you. We are all happy that you have decided to quit smoking. If the e-cigarette thingy brings you to the point that you quit it ALL, then wonderful. Everyone's quit is personal to them, or so I've read many times here. But in my opinion only, you are inhaling tobacco ~the thing we are all here to quit doing~so you haven't quit yet. YOU HAVE TAKEN STEPS TOWARDS QUITTING THOUGH. So don't let the words here discourage you. Move towards the no-nicotine cartridge soon, then eventually you will be off the whole thing. Some of the concern here may be that you will not move towards the no-nicotine cartridge and continue to (in our opinion) "smoke".

Please don't give up! You can quit smoking (and inhaling) nicotine products. 🙂

That's the important message, isn't it Jen?

We all stay in the nicotine addiction trap because we don't believe that we can escape it. All those other people, those 46 million people who have gotten out of the trap, must all be stronger than us or have less addictive personalities, or whatever.

And, then one day, we figure out that we can quit, too. Dan could quit tonight. He just hasn't gotten to the point where he believes that yet.

I just don't want to end up like my cousin I guess, that's the real motivator for me. I'm not trying to piss anyone off or get screamed at. I wish just waking up in the morning at not taking in any nicotine at all was easier, but it's not.

They say that cigarettes aren't a stress relief, but that they cause stress. But if you worked for my parents I guarantee that everyone on this forum would smoke, you'd have to, just to get through the day.

There's a senior member who says, "just don't smoke." It makes me think that this person never smoked a day in their life and they're just one of those people who doesn't like smokers.

I'll get there, I just have to step down. I also find that going to anger management courses has given me a way to get rid of my stress talking it out with someone I don't know.

I smoked for 38 years. I stopped the day I learned that all you have to do to quit is to stop using nicotine.

That's OK. A couple of years from now, when the e-cigs are distant memories and you are smoking more than every, just remember that old dude on BecomeanEX and say, "dammit, he was rigtht."
