Smells good to me

I wish I could say that all cig smoke stinks to me or that I could not stand the smell.  I have to admit if it is not indoors or a real cheap cig I don't mind the smell.  Is that a bad sign?  I DON'T want one when I smell it but it brings back fond memories.( probably going to get blasted for that---ducking and dodging--- LOL).

My husband says the same thing and he quit years ago! 🙂 I trained myself to be disgusted by it. Kind of like extra insurance. 🙂

It's possible that will change with time. I've been quit for two years, and every time I smell smoke on someone I just think it's awful, memories or not. I think everyone is different, but like Laurie says, if you can train yourself to hate that smell, it's like having an extra boundary to protect your quit. Mentally, I try to associate smoking with every negative aspect that I can, it helps me stay away from it, so to speak.

I do sometimes really like the smell when someone first lights up....it's all downhill after that.  However, during the first week of my quit we were getting gas at a gas station and as I came out of the store from paying, someone lit up.......I came this [] close to mugging the guy!!!! 😄  You gotta wonder what's REALLY behind some of the stories you read in the paper..... 😄

If I smell it ON someone---it is disgusting and I can't believe I could EVER have smelled like that! It actually horrifies me! BUT---"fresh" smoke---someone just lighting up?---have to say I do still like to smell that for a few seconds as Connie said. After that---although fresh smoke does not bother me, I also don't enjoy it.

Yeah... that happens. I quit once before, only to look at the people around me and watching them puff on a cancer stick. That would bring back feelings of nostalgia and I watched them enjoy it. That brought me back to smoking again. After smoking for so long, I did notice the horrible smell. Especially right after someone came inside from smoking. I took a long time to train myself to think its a horrible smell and horrible thing to do. Now after a while, I'm no longer around many people not smoking, so the smell isnt there to taunt me back. I'm staying quit for good.

I applaud your honesty-since I quit, I have been shocked at how bad smokers smell on the elevator-P. U.

When I first quit 10 yrs ago on the patch and Wellbutrin, I would go out with the smokers just to smell the smoke.  Today day 20 on chantix and nicotine free since 3/4/11, I no longer enjoy the smell, I do not find it disgusting just do not like it.  Just something to ponder.

Fresh smoke, from just the right distance is mildly enjoyable to me. The smell of smoke on someone is gross to me though! I've been quit 16 months so I'd say it's not a bad sign! As long as you remember that you can enjoy from a distance! Kinda like a wood fire!

I love it. but I ain't gonna go  stick it in my face because I like it wafting in the air from a distance

hate walking by a smoker or the smell of a smoker

I think the smell of it on me as I would walk through the revolving doors at work after smoking was one of the main reasons I am glad I quit.  I always felt guilty after walking back in after one.  So as good as one from a distance smells it is not good enough to make me want it back.  But I am glad to know I am not alone in my "weirdness"

From afar i like the smell after that it just plain stinks and I have friends that visit (3 of them) and they all smoke like chimneys, I used to be right up there with them but now I can't stand the smell for too long.
