Oh my goodness, thank you for writing.  I was so happy to see a message.   I've just begun so still finding my way around - but find the steps and tips helpful.   I have tried many times to quit, but honestly have never approached it fully with support, etc.   I'm much more confident

Hello , and welcome . Your quit is set for this weekend , are you ready ? Have you practiced quiting ? Are you going to use any medication or nicotine replacement , such as the patch ? Sorry hate to seem so nosey , but the more we know about you the better we can help you reach your goal of becoming a non-smoker.

I'm a long time smoker myself , I quit may 30 ,2014 , 328 days ago . I quit cold turkey ,  not always easy but not that hard either. You can do it !

Welcome & congratulations on wanting to take your life back!

Most important is making a decision that no matter how you ‘feel’, no matter what ‘happens’ or what you ‘think’ that you are not going to smoke because you don’t do that anymore.

With that decision we suggest a 'quit kit' composed of a list of distraction techniques and things to help you through like cinnamon sticks, crunchy things (carrots, celery, chips some hard candy, lots of water), lemons…biting into a lemon or sticking your head in the freezer and taking a deep breath gets you through. Also straws cut in half to stick in your mouth! Plenty of water as well.

It takes the mindset that we aren't giving up anything...we are doing it because we want to and not signing up for a lifetime of deprivation but a lifetime of freedom...that is the personal journey no one can take for us...

Thank you all - yes I've noted my triggers, practiced, going to go with the patch, have hard candy in the house and car, cleaned and cut celery and carrots, gathered a support group of friends/family, including dates for walks in the park (which can only help the waistline too!!!)  so I'm ready.    Doing it this way is new to me - and I have a better feeling.   Now I'll take a closer look at the sites you have supplied.

7 days in - I'm doing okay.   Not using any patch.  Using this site  and all I've learned.   I have had some "moments" - but nothing crazy.    Getting more exercise and so are my dogs - LOL - had a cleaning service to the house - so everything is fresh - just going to keep doing what I'm doing!
