Seeing the Truth

     Don't allow yourself to be brainwashed. That is, don't let yourself believe that you need a cigarette for ANY reason. The truth is, YOU DO NOT NEED THEM. Your mind will come up with all the clever excuses. We know them all, there are simply too many to list here. Do not focus on that side of things. Do not focus on the negative aspects of a quit, which involves your mind and excuses. Focus on the positive side by telling yourself "I don't do that anymore" as many times as it takes, no matter what other ideas pop into your head. So basically, if cousin Jimmy goes to the hospital with  an illness  this week, don't say "I need a smoke because my cousin is in the hospital." That is not the truth. That is a fallacy that won't make you or cousin Jimmy  any better. There are two things to say;

1) "I don't do that anymore"

2) "smoking is NEVER an option"

  Adhere to both of these statements, and you WILL succeed in your quit. All you have to do is realize the truth. Do not fall victim to the brainwashing of nicotine. That is what kept you smoking (most of us for several years). Open your eyes to the truth. See cleary without all the smoke getting in the way.

As I like to say, there is only one rule to a successful quit; DO NOT SMOKE. Living by these rules, I have been smoke free over 600 days! You can do it!

There isn't anything good about smoking, it doesn't releive stress it causes more stress, According to Allen carr we are all trying to get back to the place before we started smoking,We can I don't know how many days i have not quite 600 dut I told myslef I want to breathe more than I want to smoke and some other things.

I don't need to do that to myself anymore, smoking doens't help anything.

Not one puff ever

Aztec great post,Thanks

Thanks Break. I'd also like to add that there will come a day when very stressful things happen, and you won't think of smoking to relieve the stress! That was a HUGE turning point in my quit and happened around 2 months. Then....you will discover that smoking causes stress, it does not relieve stress as we were lead to believe! 🙂

Thanks for the pep talk.  I know that the thought has crept into my mind this weekend.  I really needed that reminder that smoking will not help any situation get better.  I don't do that anymore.  Thanks to all! 🙂

Doesn't have to be stress.....I just pulled into the driveway and the thought came up in my addict brain but before I let it fester I said to myself........" I don't do that anymore". End of story.
