Good. I quit just 19 days ago, and today I smoked one cig. I think I was bored, and curiosity helped the boredom. Good news is I really understood that I hated smoking, the smell, the taste, and everything about it was disgusting. Now I'm sure I never ever want to be a smoker again.

Hi out there, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!  Congrats to the ones who made it through, and its ok, to the ones who didn't.  Every day is a new chance to quit!  I am a long time smoker (45 yrs) so I know how hard it is.  I should have said I WAS a long time smoker.  I have 6 months quit behind me now, so I am still working the program. I have gained weight.  All of the suggestions are good, but they may not work for everyone.  I have learned that you have to concentrate on one thing at a time.  Stopping smoking is HUGE and it takes a lot of energy and determination.  I could not do both, at the same time.  Worry about nothing but your Quit, until you can lighten up a little, and it is not such a big deal in your life.  I am gradually getting to the point, where it does not consume every minute of my day.  Next, I am going to put the effort into getting rid of these ugly extra pounds!  I really enjoy reading what everyone says and hope that you all get strength from others on this site.  That, is the main idea!  We all support each other!  We are all in the same big Boat!

Wow, congrats to all of you! I'm planning on quitting in a few weeks. Already have a slow metabolism so I'm very worried about that aspect of it. I think I will ask my Dr for Welbutrin. Batmom, after 45 years! Amazing! And you're right, every day is a new opportunity to quit! Thanks to all.

104 days is wonderful.  I can't wait until I can post that.  I just signed on the this program today and have been reading through all the posts and they are really motivating.  I've smoked for 38 years, started when I was 15 and I told my Dr., I don't know how NOT to smoke so all your guys posts are really helpful in seeing that it can be done with a plan and the right support.  Keep up the good work and wish me luck!

Congrats on your 104, however only eating 2  meals with light snacks isn't that good, I'm on a workout plan as well. And what I have read was you really want to keep your metabolism going. Don't forget when we were smelly smokers it actually made our hearts race (not in a good way) speeding up our metabolism. So now that we are winners and don't smell anymore :), our metabolism is slower (that were we gain the weight), however eating a nice breakfast the most important meal to start our metabolism, and like a 10am snack (piece of fruit or something like that) then a nice light lunch (sandwich on wheat) nice big side salad (easy on dressing) then a 3-4pm Snack while figuring out dinner. Eat your dinner (just watch portion). Eat it slow, mouth fill and put fork down. ( make sure you clean up right away, I always had the problem of going back into kitchen and picking). Then around 7 like a hand fill of pretzels or then small carrots. Try not to eat after that. A nice ice cold glass of water is always good too, make sure you drink water all day (the 1000 pea stops will slow down too 🙂 ). Just my thoughts and what I'm doing seems to be working. Workout 3's a week minimum 20 minutes .  Don't kill yourself as time goes on you can intensify your workouts. Start slow and easy. Good luck and congrats again.

Wow! 104 days. That's amazing and inspiring. Today is my first day and I'm so grateful for being able to join this support team. Batmom, you are an inspiration, Lindasee, I'm with you, just started today and my quit date is in a few weeks. I too have a slow metabolism and will be following Tommy Boys advise! Thank you all for the great advise and stories! So glad I stumbled upon this site! The app I bought didn't work, but I will continue to visit this site.

Congratulations to all of you!  Today is the first day I have not smoked a cigarette.  I started taking chantix today.  When I get a craving, I smoke an E-cigs.  It helps a lot.  I also started working out and concentrating on eating more fruits and veggies and drinking more water.

Taking it one day at a time.  It's hard, but I know I can do it.  I Can't wait until  the cravings leave and I can stop smoking for good.  Best Wishes to all of you!

I am 56 years old and started smoking when I was 12.  I quit 2 times when I was pregnant and one other time for 7 months.  I am healthy as a horse and everytime I try to cut down, seems I smoke more.  The demon in my head is the absolute worst especially when I think about trying to quit. I can't even make it for 2 hours without a cigarette.  I don't how any of you have done this but I am certainly willing to try again. Tried the chantax and it gave me horrible nightmares, gum helps slightly, and patches help slightly. I am scared to death to set a "quit date" but more scared of failure since I can barely make it through 3 hours.

Any advise is welcome.

Two meals a day is no good. It will deffinitely make you loose weight but it will seriously affect your health. When you want to get healthy you need to think of your body like a car, and cars need fuel or they won't run. Your body needs fuel. Typically 3 portioned meals or 6 small meals a day are the best options. Exercise is your best way to loose actuall fat, your body will only burn 1lb of fat a week, any other numbers coming off the scale will be things like water weight, maybe muscle mass, and a ton of other things. Please don't underfeed yourself to loose weight. congratulations on the quitting smoking!

Congrats on the good job of quitting smoking!!

Please, do some research on your diet choices.  The body needs fuel and skipping meals and only eating crackers and diet soda is not the path to a healthy lifestyle.  You should be putting lean proteins into your body every 2-3 hours to maintain a steady and healthy metabolism.

Quitting Smoking is a great start to a healthy lifestyle.  Nurishing the body in a proper way is another step.  You have done a great job so far.  Keep it going by developing healthy eating habits too.

Great job congrats to you. 🙂  Awesome keep up the good work. I have been smoke free for 4 weeks now. I'm using an electronic vaporizer. I'm down to the lowest dose of nicotene. I started at 18mg and now im at 6mg. The next drop in dose is zero. yaay. My husband and I were able to quit together with the ecigarette system. We bought it at canvape.com. I tried cold turkey, nicotene gum and both didn't help. I also bought an ecigarette for mother day, my mom has smoked all her life. It's now 11 days sinced my mom has smoked a cigarette. 🙂
