Resting at the Oasis

OldBones-Larry

After walking for many nights, I finally came to an oasis where the waterhole was not dry. I am going to rest here for a few days to regain my strength. I must also regain the will to go on. I have had to force myself to keep traveling several times.

I have still not caught sight of the mountain. I can only hope that I am not walking in circles or that I am not on the wrong course.

Maybe I wandered farther away while I was in Depression Gorge that I thought I had.

I must quit thinking things like that and stay strong.

I WILL find the mountain and get there safely.

You all must stay strong in your journey across NML. There are many things out here that could harm you.

Ol' Nic and his bunch will never give up on trying to lure you back into his poisonous clutches.

Keep a sharp eye out for his traps and watch out for his minions.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

You will find your way, Larry...there are way too many people who need you for you to be lost.  Stay strong but also know that we will carry YOU if need be.

You may be the Caravan Master, but there are many here who have learned from you and can help lead you to the mountain when you lack food and water and your mind is wavering in the desert heat.  There are cairns all over the place.  Don't lose hope.  As you have told us often enough  "one step and then the next will get you where you want to go."  Trust that there a landing places all along route.  Some are not recognizable, but they're there nonetheless.  You WILL find the mountain and get there safely.  Remember to pause along the way and look up at the desert sky.  There are crystal stars above and they are glinting on the mica in the rocks below. Follow the starlit path and if it gets too dark, just stop.  And breathe.  Until you see the glinting again.

Gather as many as you can around your campfire my friend. No man's land is a difficult journey & there are those that need your guidance.

About the Author
I am a male that underwent coronary artery bypass X3 (triple) on 10/22/13 at the age of 55. I was living on about 20-30% of one coronary artery and my left heart output was only 20% to 25%. I spent a week in the hospital after surgery and went home. Then had to go back a day later for another week because I had pneumonia. Finally a few days because of a slight arythmia. All told it has been about 2 1/2 weeks. I am past the cravings by now and only have the urges to contend with. I really don't suggest that anyone quits smoking using this technique though. I'll have to carry the scars from that day for the rest of my life. The large one down the center of my chest, and the ones from several "silent" infarctions. I came that close to the next world. Never again will I subject my body to that (at one point in my life I was smoking 5 packs of cigarillos a day). I now have to say N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever) every day of my life. TheOldGoat-Joan, I miss you terribly my friend. Elder Lists Guilia's: (/blogs/Giulia-blog/2017/06/18/elders-list-ao-december-7-2016 ) or Smorgy's (Chronological Elder List)
