Reflections (or ramblings) on Week One

Well, week one is in the can, so to speak. While it hasn't been all that difficult (thank you, Chantix and BecomeAnEx), it does seem like it's been a very long seven days. Part of that was, I suppose, because I worked four ten-hour days so I could go to the beach with Rolf and his friend on Friday. And part of it is that I've been trying to organize a group of quitters which is kind of like herding cats.

But, I made it through what some people refer to as "hell week" in one piece and without killing anyone (that I remember). It has been nice to hook up with a bunch of like-minded folks here at BAE.org and I appreciate the kind thoughts that have come to me through comments, replies and emails.

I have quit smoking far too many times and I'm getting to the point in my life where I'm tired of quitting. That may not make any sense, but it's true. That's why I want to make this one the last one. I will be retiring in a few years (as long as the economy comes out of the toilet) and I want to be able to enjoy it doing healthy, athletic things. I love to play golf, dive and surf. I want to be doing these things when I'm 70. They all require the ability to breathe.
