Really?!?!?!?!?! Okay....White Flag !!!!

I am hoping we can make peace with my user name...well, at least help everyone understand how/why it works for me and is certainly not to be offensive to anyone!!!

I ruptured a tendon in my calf in early May, am just now getting back to the gym. Getting back to level of woking out that I was used to and having to get the strength back in my muscles again really sucks.

It sucks that my kids live states away and I don't see them as often as I would like.

It is so windy today that I cannot get out to skate...that sucks!

I would never say, that sucks about something that is a permanent negative state of being for someone...that would be a terrible. thing to say.

This quitting thing we are all doing is temporary....it eventually turns to recovery and victory. We have a chemical dependency...I will achieve my victory over it, if I fail and have to quit again, I guarrantee you, it will suck!!!

That is me......Amy

quitting does suck. I just went a few months without, then smoked again for about 9 days. Had to quit again. Not as bad as when I first quit after YEARS of smoking. But nonetheless...it still sucked.

LOL!!!  Amen, Amy!!!  ROCK ON girl!!!

I don't think we "hate" your name Amy...I think it's more the bad press that the commercial about "quitting sucks" gives to us on the Ex site.  We are protective about what we do out here....sometimes we forget that there are other views and opinions and not everyone is trying to belittle us.  So, for that, Amy, I apologize!!!

We only want whats best for you and we want you to succeed in your quit....that is our main objective!!!!!  So, keep your name quittingsucks because we know that it's helping you and motivating you and that's all that matters!!!!!

YOU GO GIRL....AMY!!!!!!  - Cindy

We try not to send the message that "quitting sucks" because that can and will discourage others from even trying. Keep the name if you must but it does not send a good message.

I see your point, Amy. I personally don't think it's anyone else's place to tell someone else what their user name should be. Just stay on track. Soon, you'll be through the "suckage" and you'll be so happy! Congrats on 3 days! 🙂

In general we consider it a good thing if we do not have to walk on eggshells! Soooo, you don't need to worring about walking on them either! You use whatever name you want! If you believe quitting sucks, it is OK to say so! I will ask you to change it the moment we show you, and convince you that quitting is really the best thing you can do for yourself! I remember a young Lady who came here with a question mark for a name (?). I suggested that she change that to an exclamation point. In my mind there was no question if she could quit! She did make that change and today our friend Judy is about to turn 287 Smoke Free Days! What I am getting to, is that you can use any name that works for you! You came here to quit and stay quit! We are going to help you make that change! I hope you are open to change, and I would like to help you feel a need to change that name!

Thanks for the explanation of your name Amy. It did not offend me tho I was planning on suggesting that you change it when you felt differently about your quit then you do now. You will! When you do go to edit profile, look to the right and click on Settings. Then hit the link BecomeAnEX.org plan site. and shange your name and save. Probably the link I just posted will take you striaght there. When you are ready!

Meantime keep up the good quit! Stay close and read read read!

First...I'm very glad you are here! Congratulations!  🙂

I was definitely referring to the mindset. We don't have control over the world around us and we definitely can't control what others do and say......BUT....what we do have control over is our attitudes and feelings. We tend to expose those things, many times indirectly, in our language and useage of it. I'm only saying that I look forward to your success and attitude towards this change becoming a permanent feature of the new you.

"QuittingSuckedForALittleWhile" .............. LOL 🙂 Only because it is a MAJOR CHANGE and we are viewing it as sucking.

I hope I did not offend you...it was not my intention.
