Racing the Sunset!

Good Morning fellow Exer's! A lot of you know that I just returned from San Francisco and my daughter's wedding! Last Friday was a bad day of travel! Between mechanical problems forcing a change, in not only planes, but airlines, and all the other hassles involved in air travel these days, my patience was tested! There was a time when this would have been cause for chain smoking! But, I Don't Do That Anymore! However, I did have a unique experience that I would like to share with you!

Friday evening, I finally left Charlotte, NC, with a belly full of Bojangles Chicken, at 8:40. As the plane was taking off, I witnessed the beginning of a gorgeous sunset! Now keep in mind that we were headed west! Because of that, the sun was not quite able to set! We were giving it quite a chase! For the next 3 hours and 25 minutes, the sun was trying to bring on the night! But the speed of the plane would not quite let it! It was a miraculous sight to behold! 3 hours and 25 minutes of spectacular sunset!

I eventually saw in this a microcosm of our lives! We all spend so much of our lives "Racing the Sunset"! We are all  busy focusing on the setting sun of our own lives! We are racing to achive all that we believe that we shoud before darkness overtakes us! My message today is simple. Do not focus on the end. Do not be driven by fear of the end! Enjoy the race, and run at your own pace! There is so much good to see and enjoy. Finish the race with a smile on your face and a song in your heart! And run your race Smoke Free! Enjoy your Freedom!                   Tommy Piver

Beautifully stated, Tommy. Thank you. Also, I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a least a little jealous. I'm sure that was quite the sight to behold and I am truly thankful that there was at least ONE person there to fully appreciate. Sometime we get so caught up in our IPhones and Laptops and Kindles that we can miss those things, I'm glad you didn't. Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on your daughter's wedding, I hope you found a man just like you:)  The sun set sounds wonderful I could almost see it my self the way you described it.  Thanks for the great blog, and I will take time to view the sunsets my friend.  I'm so glad you are back, have a wonderful evening.

I have been on westbound planes at sunset, and it's very very cool to witness that. I totally don't understand how the other travelers around me slept or had their eyes glued to their laptop screens. My eyes were glued to the sunset the entire time. Bogangles is okay but It's Popeyes red beans and rice and Chruch's chicken that REALLY rock! Welcome back my friend. ♥
