Quitting the worst - An experience worth sharing!

Hi All,

It’s been almost 12+ years I’ve been having nicotine either as a cigarette or vape. There was a point where I was feeling extremely uncomfortable by coughing and phlegm since I was overdoing the vape. I felt tired very early and have sleep issues as I was holding Jull always in my hand. I used to wake up smoking Jull and used to sleep smoking. It messed my sleep, my energy, my stamina as the workouts felt very tiring. I used to smoke in the office premises and it was a really bad influence and behavior in front of the colleagues. This year I decided to go hard and go cold turkey in quitting as this felt the only and best way for me to go all in and come out healthy and energetic. So I did some research online and got to know about this website.

It was a game changer. I’ve never thought that manifesting is the first point of quitting. The first best advice I’ve seen here is keeping a quit date 2/3 weeks from the date you’ve decided. This was a great thought since it was being recorded and the app has instilled confidence and kept reminding me that the date is approaching. As the day finally came I thought of doing one day at a time. I thought it’ll be really difficult and yes it was because I was so habituated for nicotine.

My first week was extremely stresssful and my friends have helped me a lot in keeping me occupied and instilling faith that I can do this. First thing to remember is isolate yourself from people who smoke and keep yourself super busy whether it’s work or a sport or swimming etc. Once the first week was completed, I gained the confidence that I can do this. This community was extremely helpful because it kept on reminding me everyday with positive quotes and benefits of quitting smoking.

As the first week passed, I’ve become more impatient and anxious for second week and here is when I’ve seen my body reacting differently. It was forcing me to get back by impacting my stomach. I had severe gas issues and there was constipation as my body was so used to nicotine it was making me very uncomfortable. I held on to this by doing research online and understanding how body reacts and how I can hold myself. This continued for 2 more weeks. I kept on pushing and the community messages were my motivating factor where they kept on checking on how I was doing and was appreciating the journey.
After a tough 4 weeks, my body was getting back to normal finally. I feel more clean, my breath smells good, my skin smells good and looks more energetic. I don’t have dark circles in my eyes. My sleep has improved. I’m more self aware in what food I’m eating. I started focusing in mental health and started doing yoga which indeed is helping me to push myself more. I feel so confident  and pleased with my journey and this community has been the best thing that happened to me this year.

Im planning to continue this for the rest of the year and one thing I would like to tell all the people who are in this journey is ‘One day at a time’. The days pass and it’s been 38 days now and I’m looking for more awesome days ahead.

Kudos to this system and I’ll be greatful for the help that I’ve got form the community and the app.

Thanks folks!! All the best to the quitters out there. I’ll do another blog after my second month and share my experiences.

You are doing this and doing it WELL!  Congrats!

I don't know if you have come across this information here  yet, but I would feel remiss if I didn't call your attention to it.  Knowing about it saved my quit:

It's so encouraging to read about the positive changes in your life. Sleep smoking? Omy gosh what a hold nicotine has had on us. I'm thrilled for you breaking free of that.  Keep going @vishwakb90, you're doing really awesome. I will look forward to your update at 2 months!

@vishwakb90

You can search for No Mans Land in the search box in the center top on the home page (top left) and find lots of conversations about it.  A good place just to read about all kinds of relevant things is the "Best of Ex."  You navigate to it also from the home page, then the box on the right.

I read and read and read some more early in my quit.  Had I not, I might have lost my quit in No Mans Land.  Because I was aware, I was able to soldier through it!  Knowledge IS power!

Be sure to ask for information, advice or support any time you feel it would be helpful!
