Quitting is not that bad....a few days of active vigilence and presto you are a non-smoker'I am a pack a day addict of 45 years in this nasty ass habit. I quit for 5 months last year after a near fatal fall and Chantix

Chantix made me crazy...the psycho b""""" from hell!

My belief is quitting is not that bad...we are hyper vigilent for that first week..the nicotine is gone for the most part

a few epson salt baths and it is out of your skin as well..

The real work is everyday after you quit....NEVER let your gaurd down...NOT ONCE!

It can get you if you relax...PERIOD!

I believe the work begins every day and wonder if it ever goes away....

those 10 minutes of breathing and waiting for the urge to pass..is what addiction is about...

that visitor that sneaks in if you take your eye off the prize...HEALTH

So I am about to quit again....everyday, at every impulse to smoke...and I hope to hold onto the reality

Quitting is easy!

sounds like you know everything but you stopped living it.

i've been quit for a long time.

i didn't have any answers. no advice. no website.

I just did it.

and I never started back.

what is the difference between the talk and the walk?

I think thats obvious.

actually I wish you well.

lets see if you do it any differently this time

Don't know much...oviously...just my current state of mind.....the real work follows the quit...

If it didn't I would be like you and quit..stayed quit...

Talk is cheap..walking the quit line is straight narrow and forever long!

Doing something different...OH yes...NEVER...ever...Light one up again!

Congrats..

I hope to join you!

Best wishes for a successful quit this time. Take what you learned before as to why you started smoking again and use that on your upcoming quit. That will be what makes it your final successful quit. It is a drug that we cant just have one of and all will be okay. We can never have it again. That is the whole key to staying quit.

Thank you all... Addiction is an evil illiness

The perseverence required to conquer addiction really offers nothing for shortcuts..

One moment of success breeds another and someday those moments become longer...

But they are still moments...

I had, at one time, thought the addiction was over.... and thought I could have one...

well, what I have learned is..my addiction runs deep, much like an alcoholic...

So this time.....it will be Never again...ever...again...

NEVER Light up a poison stick again....

This was the lesson!

And this time I will not use Chantix...which for me was damaging to my moods...

I believe that this time...the quit will be a bit more honestly in depth....

You also might want to ask yourself why folks who have quit 1 year ago, 2 years, etc... are still here supporting others like you and me?  Could it be that they Know that the best way to stay vigilant is to stay engaged?  Before I always took my quits (HA!) for granted like oh yea I think it's more or less a year but who's counting?  Now I mean to let that sabotaging nicodemon know that he's not getting past This guy! Don't EVEN think about it! Go away! See what I mean? I'm keeping my friends up to date so if I have a bad stretch on day 400 whatever They'll be there! That's the power of this site!

You are all so kind...Yes I do believe that hanging out with a bunch of ex--smokers may be the key....

I do see that support and understanding will "NO DOUBT" play a key role in this final quit!

The power of this site.....How cool is that!
