Quitting doubts

I still feel committed to my quit set for tommorrow but isn't it funny how many "tests" trying do get you to doubt your decision before you even quit smoking?

1) we get invited to have some fun, sun, and beer tommorrow with someone who chain smokes

2) went to a memorial day picnic with a bunch of smokers today trying to get me to postpone my quit date to when they are ready to quit

3) at the same picnic several smokers raving about how great Chantix is and recommending that I post pone my quit so that I can utilize their free supply

4) I was preparing to use the freezer technique for cravings and just realized we recently bought a bottom freezer refrigerator:/

Ok so I realize these are lame reasons to put doubt in my mind about my quit  date but WTH

Hi JoJo, I have been following your story, and lett me just say you are a huge inspiration to me. I have been what they call a confirmed smoker for 20 years, never thinking smoking was causing any damage to my health. I can remember my Dad telling me we were lucky not to have the lung cancer gene. About 6 months ago a doctor told me I had the smokers wheeze. I thought all people my age sounded like that . Lol About 2 months ago I was diagnosed with bronchial asthma and prescribed Advair. It took away the wheezing but I can just not get over the fact that I was perscribed something for COPD. I truely believe these are my early warning signs and if I continue to smoke, I will be right where you are. I know I am lucky and do not want to give up my second chance.

Thank you so much for being such an inspiration. I hope your twins arrive sooner than later.

we all want to put the quit off the idea that we're not the ones that's not going to happen to us. (that being the smoker's ill that smoking gives you COPD, Stroke, Heart Attack, Cancer, if you're lucky death.). Not trying to scread you just trying to inform you so you quit on time we're nicotene addicts.  stick to your the start date.

Lame reasons are really excuses.  You should pick a quit date that is relatively stress-free (ie NOT the day you take the licensing exam for your profession), but the things you list sound more like the excuses I used for years.  Please pick a date soon and keep it.

your going to be alright, dont let that get to you. May sound lame but I didnt tell anyone when i was quitting. I chose to do that just for that fact. I ikew there wasnt anyone close that would be supportive, thats why Im on here ALOT. just something to think about. Other smokers will not be supportive of your quit, or mine hasnt been anyways
