The hardest thing so far was getting over that first "right when I wake" urge, but I shoved a sucker in my mouth instead. I did not realize the actual symptoms you go through, like the ready to snap at people. Another  thing I am realizing is when I go out, it seems like everybody I see is smoking!!!!! I hope tomorrow will be a little easier!!

Hang in there.  It may get harder before it gets easier.  You're doing great by checking in.  Waking up is really tough in the beginning; that was one of my hardest times to fight through, as well.  You've made an excellent decision to quit smoking that will save you money, improve your health, and make you feel better than you maybe thought you could.

Think about the times when you're 'ready to snap.'  Cigarettes have allowed you to ignore your feelings.  Practice sorting through them.  The more you understand what's going on with you emotionally, the more tools you can acquire against your nicotine addiction.

No, it just seems like everyone is smoking becasue you can't. Actually the studies say that only 1 in 5 adults now smoke. Millions have quit and you have also made that wise choice. It does get easier day by day. keep your focus and you will continue to be siccessful. Best wishes to you!    😃

I am sooo happy that I have gotten past day 1. It is long and difficult and it seems like it will be forever until you start to feel better.  I am now at day 8 and today was my first day of waking up and feeling positive that I did not crave a cigarette immediately.

I feel like I am cheating some because I am using the patch. I also have an e-cig which I save for "emergencies." I used it New Years Eve and I made it through the night without a real cigarette.

I am determined to make this a real quit and I decided I will use whatever aid will get me through the tough times. Like Michael says, Hang in there. We can only do this one day, one hour, sometimes only one minute at a time.

I know how you feel. I am having a hard time breaking out of my morning and evening routine. I am getting better about wanting a cigarette once I wake up because as gross as this is...I always wake up with all that gross stuff in my throat (that is all I will say with that because I know many of you may not be nursing majors like me lol). By focusing on how that felt, that has helped me get over not having my morning cigarette. Now I just need to conquer my evening routine before I go to bed!  Keep up the good work!! You can do this!!
