Hello everyone. Today is my first day as a non smoker!  My last cig was yesterday at 3:21 pm. Then I gave all of my lighters ashtrays and credit cards to my ex husband so I would not be tempted. Well I will keep you updated since this computer is one of my biggest triggers!

did you learn what you felt you needed to get started?

I too used to smoke a lot while I was on the computer.  However, when I quit, coming to EX and reading at whyquit.com and quitsmokingonline.com were so helpful and were not triggers at all.  I know this is the case for many of us.  Maybe it will be for you too!

Use these coping techniques, they really work...

Stay close to this site and remember NOPE=Not One Puff Ever...and as long as you stick to this ONE SIMPLE rule, you will win....it the meantime, drink plenty of fresh cold water to rid your body of the toxins,6 smaller, nutritious meals throughout the day to keep your blood-sugar levels steady, (don't diet!)......and it will keep your blood sugar level and the low blood sugar induced fogginess and craves away.

....take big arm STRETCHES as often as needed to relax tense muscles and most importantly, take big DEEP BREATHS TO RELAX AND RELIEVE anger... take a nap, take walks, stay buzy with something you LIKE and brush you teeth immediately after each meal...stick your head in the freezer and DEEP BREATHE....If you bite into a lemon, the smoking thought will be gone instantly...try it, it works, also suck on sugarfree hard candy or lollipops and one of my friends here says be sure to use the Halls mentholyptus cough drops......Be prepared in advance for it,not surprised by it...Smoking thoughts only have power when you have fear. Face it head on and do not try to run or hide. You have the strength and power to tell it NO...You have the CHOICE to tell it NO. Each time you get a smoking urge, immediately DISTRACT yourself and kick the thought out of your head!!!        Also, come here to read these links...

The most IMPORTANT thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the EASIER it is...

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not TRY. Educate yourself by reading these links that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You are a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this! ....http://quitsmokingonline.com/

No one said this would be easy, you can do it...The computer is one of my triggers also, so i understand what you are going through, I don't look forward to that temptation..

But you can do it...

Yes I learned what I needed to get me started I have researched within myself so deep that I am actually pissed off to let a 3 inch rolled up weed stick to control my life and I will not let it control me ANYMORE!

I will keep close to this site through out my day to get the support If I need it.

I have signs all over my house saying breath, I will win! and $$$$$$.

I started a ATTA GIRL FUND.  Its a big empty sparklets bottle and my Ex husband glued the lid on it and cut a hole in the lid. I put this weeks worth of money I would of used for cigs and it already has $50.00! I took a picture of it to remind me through out the day while I am at work,. By this time next year I will have over $2000.00!

You're set and ready to spring into your new life.  It's quite a ride but smooth going on the other side.  Hang onto your friends here on the site.  You will do this.  Yeah!

Congratulations on your first day as a non-smoker.  Remember to practice your deep breathing throughout the day to help with your relaxation.  Take the time to clear your mind and just focus on the breath going in and out.
