Hello EXers

I haven't posted lately but that is not a bad thing. My quit date was Tuesday Dec 1. I have had 5 full days without a cigarette and currently making my way through day 6. I have had my moments for sure. I have found that deep breaths seem to help me get past the craves the best. Hardest triggers have been driving and completing a task. Yay done with the kitchen, now I can sit down and have a smoke.......oh right, I don't do that anymore. Yay!! dont with the kitchen, now I can (deep breath... deep breath...) self talk, go do something else, or sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather while reminding myself that I can enjoy the outdoors without a smoke.

Have a great day smoke free day.

Kathy

Hi, Kathy! It sounds like you are doing great! I had a moment on Friday, when the house was clean and decorated for Christmas! I stood back, looked at my accomplishment and thought: Well I think I wll smoke! Whoops, I don't do that anymore! and it passed very quickly! I think you will probably have those times, just blow them away and move on! You did very good! Congratulations on 5 full days! Keep moving forward!

Congratulations on the beginning of day 6.  These the hardest times.  They are easier to get through with a no matter what attitude you can get through it.  Shout out if you need help someone will respond.  You got this.  I can tell.

Congradulations Kathy! Yes those times thinking it is time for a smoke will happen even when you don't even have the crave to smoke, after all that is what we have done for years. My husband smokes and earlier in my quit when I went to sit with him to talk I catch myself picking up the cigarette pack and take a cigarette then realize what I have done then just slid the cigarette back into the pack and laugh and tell myself I don't do this anymore. It happens, brush them off and keep going You are doing very well!

Congratulations on FIVE days of not smoking!

I have found that the "task completed" reward smoke is one of the most difficult to get beyond.  At 3 1/2 years, I still have a  passing thought when I take a break (it isn't a crave - just a passing reminder and easy to dismiss - but there nonetheless).  I have substituted a cold Pepsi over ice (I normally don't drink soda anymore, so it's a treat!)  Find a good new way to reward yourself.  It will help you relearn your life as an ex-smoker.

Congratulations Kathy on your precious ongoing beautiful quit, you are doing fantastic. I found the deep breaths helped me the most too and of course self talk because I don't do that anymore works great too. Keep on counting your fabulous smoke free days.

Congratulations...you are doing this!   My advice is to stay close to this site.  For me it has definitely been a lifeline and I don't think I would have come this far without the wonderful people here.   CP, non-smoker for 193 days

~~Misty@Dawn~~Quit Date 07-29-2010

I thought I had a quit buddy but I haven't heard from her since before out quit date. I checked in with her but haven't heard back. Soooo, I guess you could say my husband is my quit buddy since he decided to quit with me. Sure makes things easier than I was expecting.

I really appreciate all the positive feedback from everyone. Thanks
