Questions about coming off the patch

I have been using the patch for 5 days and so far I really appreciate that most of the withdrawal symptoms I had in the past are not present.  I can't believe how much it has helped me.  I do get some cravings, but I can usually let it pass.  My question is---after 10 weeks on the patch---following their recommendations, do you go through  withdrawal again?

If and when you come off the patch, the quit may be a bit easier than if you just stopped. Over a year for myself and I hardly think about smoking anymore. The weight gain was about 12 to 15 lbs and this is coming off gradually, when stopping this habit I went the cold turkey route, glad I did because going back to smoking will take a lot of thought, when I stopped it was the worst thing I have ever been through, never will I go through that again. There will never be a one puff for me because stopping is a nightmare!!!!! Good luck, much success on your quit, you have a wonderful site to visit and lots of help. I smoked for 45 years! God Bless

I was on the patch for 8  weeks, 21mg for 4 weeks, 21 mg for 2 weeks and the 7 mg for 2 weeks, but I would forget to put one on after my shower, so I don't think I really needed them.  I've been off the cigarettes for 103 days  and did not have any cravings. I am so proud to say I'm a non smoker. We can do this !!!

When I went off the patch for good I did notice some withdrawel symptoms but they were not too bad and expecially when I compared it to another time of quitting from the beginning by cold turkey method. You'll just have to plan for it - make it on a weekend like I did for example.  If I had to do it all over again I would do it the same way.

Thanks for all your comments---I am beginnig to feel like it doesn't really matter what method you use as long as you committ to quit!  I have quit cold turkey twice for one year each time---and both times--- I thought I could smoke socially for one nite---WRONG--Three years have passed and now I am using the patch this time and I now know---I can never tell myself---just for one night you can smoke!  I really don't want to go through this quitting stuff ever again! Its just a struggle that I will have to face!
