Preparing for quit date

Okay, I am trying to get myself ready for my quit date on Feb.17th.  I get nervous just thinking about it, but am so encouraged by the posts on this site.  I am going to use this support system to help me make it.  I have smoked 33 years, without quitting for more than 4 days at time.  I am ready to be free!  Looking forward to being one of the ex's!  Any advice on advance preparation is welcome.  Thanks!

I'm easing into Day 9 as I type. The dread of my Quit Date was worse than the reality of it. As it drew closer, I was trying to stretch time between cigs, only take a few puffs, etc. and it was exhausting. Its still not easy all the time, but the only decision that has to be made is not to smoke this minute. Yeah, wish I didn't have to make the decision that many times in a day, but it is getting better and will for you too.

It's really tough.  Just do your best to smoke lots of weed.  I hope that we can meet in person when we are both smoke free and happy.

It is hard but it is not the hardest thing you will ever do. Just get after it and the further you get away from cigs the healthier you will become! Skip the weed since none of us need to join another quit online support like www.ex weed addict.com besides weed will give you COPD just as quickly as cigs!

Stay strong and I look forward to your quit blogs when you get going! Do not start any new addictions in the mean time!

I needed to quit cold turkey, get the nicotine right out of my system then used acupuncture and hypnosis to solidify my commitment to quit.  First and foremost,  pray.  God helps those who help themselves, I'm sure you heard that one.  Prayer changes things.  Believe in yourself, be excited and happy that you are doing something so wonderful for you.  Never ever take one puff ever.  N.O.P.E.  Best wishes to you.

Work on doing away with those habit cigarettes before your quit,  move the ashtrays around, don't have anything "automatic" about smoking.   That way when you do quit,  you won't  automatically reach for that cigarette, then have that sense of loss when its not there.  That is what become an ex is all about.

The program does work, after  38 years of smoking and countless failed attempts to quit, I am 3 weeks smoke free and this site gave me the tools to do it!!

Stay stong,  be happy you quit, don't obsess over quitting and you will do great!!
